I don't see McGovern playing at guard in place of Williams. Williams probably plays guard and then switches to tackle next season if they don't move another guy over there. McGovern takes over at guard next season.

Exactly. McGovern starts in 2020 after Williams moves to RT. Unless Williams is a train wreck this year, of course.

I've said it for awhile now, we have no plans to pay Lael. Fwiw I doubt we pay B Jones either. I can handle those losses as long as we keep everyone else. Lael never lived up to the hype anyways. Although if we kept him at guard who knows how good he'd have been.

The problem is LCollins will be UFA after 2019.

He has a 6+million salary this season.

The only way Dallas keeps him is to give him a new deal $$$ before 2020.

LCollins grades out very well with PFF btw.

Personally, I move Martin to LT and move Smith to RT permanently. Or just move Martin out there. Does depend on how good these guys are in the middle.

Larry Allen was moved around, how did that work out?

Again, "It worked once decades ago! So it will work again" is a stupid reason to do this with Martin.

You guys are overthinking this and wanting to experiment for the sake of experimenting. Martin stays at guard where he plays at the highest level in football. Draft better at tackle and you don't need to consider these silly things.

Disagree respectfully.

Martin is better suited for RT.

Williams arms are too short for the position.

Zach Martin arms length is 32-7/8 per NFL.com .

Williams arm length is 33"

*Numbers from their draft profiles

It is beyond idiotic to take a player that is playing at the highest level in football at a position and move him out of that position to RT just so he can be good....

You can find "good/great" easier than you can find a yearly all-pro. And all you're doing is downgrading the guard position - it's not like you're replacing guard with another all-pro.

It's just a silly thing to even consider unless injuries are so bad Martin is forced into playing RT.

We'll see.

Imo McGovern is the one to switch .But that's just my guess.

Either way don't have a favorite for rt as long as it works out lol .

The other option John is as James pointed out... They could draft an OT early come the next draft and start him there at the RT spot.

Who knows exactly.

I think a lot of it will depend on McGovern's progress this season and their faith that he can start next season and be better than meh.

Collins starting hurt us last year. Maybe Connor is out of position but he really needed to put on some weight and I'm confident he will be a different player this year. I'm a big fan of the McGovern pick. Doesn't have to start day 1 but if he does he probably can do a solid job.

Zack Martin is and should be cemented at rg, where's he been pretty much all pro and regarded as the best rg in football since he entered the league.

Not sure why you guys are even speculating to moving him to rt and now lt, I've never heard these rumors?

And it he doesn't transition smoothly? Then we are weaker at rg and wherever he moves to.
He even struggled slightly with a different position coach...

Stop trying to fix what ain't broke and work on what is. Hopefully the coaching staff has a better idea for these players...

Solid pick with position flex. May be a year away from playing but hopefully with Williams having another year and stringer/heavier we can put together a good group with really good backups at every position..

Martin may be an All Pro Tackle too! Martin played Tackle in college. Whatever makes us stronger as a unit we should try.

Actually it is silly to not try things that may make us better. NE does it all the time with their players, play calls, and scheme and look how it has worked out for them.
These guys make millions and all they do is practice football. They should be a little flexible in what they can do. Again see NE.

McGovern is a backup in 2019. There’s no reason to start him now if you don’t have to

Martin doesn’t play in a vacuum. He is part of a unit. The unit was very mediocre last year. If him moving to T makes the unit better, it is a no brainer to do it.

Redman likely doesn't make the team.
