Everything that damages the human body, is the devil to ur body. Just because someone takes , lets say Tylenol like I do, doesn't make weed ok. Weed is horrible for ur body in many many ways. Look up the research. May not be as bad as alcohol, but its bad. I have to be around drug users all the time due to my job, and I can tell u there's a price to weed smoking as well as all drug use. Regular users of weed start experiencing mental problems, depression, loss of initiative , paranoia, bad memory, lung cancer, learning disabilities, and many other problems like it being a gateway drug and it is. I have family and friends that use it and the long term consequences aren't pretty. It sent my sister down the road of no return as others I know. If this is a price ur willing to pay, I guess so be it, but it's a selfish habit that takes a toll on everyone. I use Tylenol only because I need it, but have refused all other medications offered to me and I could qualify for most with my horrendous back. I refuse to add to my problems and societies if it can be avoided at all. I have also swam laps for 30 years every night to avoid more drugs or surgery. Two wrongs don't make a right, and adding to ur problems is just dumb. With that being daid, if beer is legal, there's no good consistent argument to keeping weed illegal. But the issue should be , why do we allow alcohol to be legal with the damage it does? Comparing weed to alcohol is comparing a mobster to a drug dealer. Both are bad. And the nfl supports the promotion of alcohol which is hypocritical. This is all illogical reasoning and corruption on the part of the league and govt.

I completely disagree. There are MANY people who smoke cannabis (Marijuana is essentially a made-up word)
and happen to be excelling in high stress careers.

Moderation is the key to everything. Hell, watermelons can kill you if you eat too many of them in one sitting.
Thing is, most people know to stop before that happens.

Eating watermelons aren't addictive, smoking weed definitely is. Water can kill you to, but who drinks too much water? I tried that test in academy years ago and couldn't drown myself after drinking 3 gallons in less than an hour. Good things aren't addictive, bad things are. Moderation in bad things only limits the amount of damage. Like a moderate killer, or being moderate in raping ppl, cutting urself, stealing, cheating , lying :) and so on. A little bit or moderate amount of bad still has the effects. :) Moderation is good to keep in mind when doing good things. On bad things, the key is to try to eliminate. A moderate Hitler , is still HITLER!!!! Now, how much better would those ppl. Be doing in their careers, if they found better ways to deal with stress? How does smoking weed affect the morality of those ppl? Are weed smokers someone you want working for you? The character of a person is tied to every thing they take part in.

Sadly...one more step towards society sinking into the toilet. You would think professional people would have a higher standard of living.
Old out of touch people almost always feel that way about things they don’t understand. It’s completely normal and understandable.

Time marches on and progress almost always wins. Except in North Korea. ;)

These so called old out of touch ppl. are the ones that understand the repercussions of bad endeavors. This country was founded by these types who put together the best constitution on the face of the earth to provide God given freedoms to all. They understood the downfalls of slavery, serfdom, tyrannicalism, socialism, an immoral society. Ppl. Didn't shoot each other up because they disagreed or wore the wrong colors, suicide was only for the traitors to country, didn't suffer type 2 diabetes from too much refined foods and sugar, didn't have 25 percent of the population on disabilty, the older ones had higher reading skills and deciphering of article skills. The young ppl. Beat up ppl. Going to vote, kill a million babies a year, think its alright to demand to special rights at the cost of others rights to happiness, are too proud to do a manual labor job, lack social skills because they have spent too much time on PlayStation instead of productive activities as a child, think its cool to shoot up a school full of kids, and as presidents, think it's fine to lie to all of America and then tell them how dumb they were to believe the lies. And ultimately, have no concept of objective truth, the law of non contradiction , laws of logic, consistency, and think the ends justify the means. The end of our free society is closing in, lead by the younger generation largely without morality, self restraint and responsibility, and respect for others. The younger generation has been getting by only because of the older generations work before them. Go look up the avg. Life expectancy and marriage length of ur avg. Rock star from years past that thought drug use was cool. Graveyards are full from these types and families are destroyed from this behavior. If that's progress, I'd hate to see what u think regress is. Drug use is poison to every thing it touches and only regresses a society. The founders said the constitution was only good for governing a moral ppl. And I see they were spot on. :)

I believe only a psychiatrist can prescribe medication.

With a couple of exceptions that is correct. But outside of bipolar disorder, any psychiatric illness these men might have would be better treated with therapy, not medication.

Better late than never for serious discussions on the possibility of the NFL's marijuana restrictions to be fairly less than archaic! ;)

Really?
PR nowadays, unless you're operating heavy machinery.

Boy! Those crickets have suddenly become eloquent!

If you weren’t drinking before this conversation. You certainly must have been after.

I grew up around and have been around drugs most of my life. I know the consequences. I agree marijuana is a gateway drug as well. As far as long term effects Ive known many people who haven't reported any. Id be curious out of the people who developed health problems how many of them were taking other drugs in addition to marijuana? As with most anything in life moderation is key.

I work in emergency medicine and I will tell you I can count on one hand how many calls Ive made due to marijuana. Its rare that a pot smoker dials 911 because of his habit. That of course doesn't mean it's not harmful. I agree any drug is harmful, hell look at what all the sugars and crap we put in our bodies is doing. We still enjoy a little icecream though right?

You say you only take tylenol, but these guys play through injuries for a living. Meaning be available or lose out on a contract. I think you and them live in different worlds. When the average NFL career last like 3 years and you have an opportunity to be financially secure for life you do what you have to.

"Mental Health Professional". Is it going to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist? I'm guessing the latter. Unfortunate.

A mental health expert could be filled by some with masters of social work...

If you want marijuana off the banned substance list then legalize it nationally.
