This guy was getting hyped as someone Richards was really happy to get in the draft.

I havent heard much one way or the other about his training camp. In the game he had an interception and a tackle.

Now his interception was on a ball that shouldn't have been thrown, and those kinds of gimmies are rare in regular or post season. It's still nice to see a defender grab one though because we miss a lot of gimmies.

Has anyone taken a close look at this guy's snaps? I only watched the broadcast and it's hard to track the DBs on there.

Not correct

On average they are there 3-5 times per game. They are taken advantage of less than half the time. Even Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady throw those.

Typical late pick, in the box safety, with average coverage skills, that has the ability to be a good special teams player and make Iloka expendable!

Wilson and Iloka, and since he didn't have time tolerant the D yet, I will throw in Powell to compete for the 5th S spot. If they only keep 4, then they may push Frazier for that spot. Thompson may be in the mix, but a little longer shot, as is Powell from the looks from the game. Bu he did have a few good plays other than that lame attempt on the TD. But as I said, he was in TC for what, 2 days.

Wilson has the best if they keep 5, because this team likes to keep their draft picks over slightly better players.

If Iloka is released we could get a comp pick from losing Beasley, as long as any other team does not release any players we lost.

Wilson made plays at A&M. The problem with him is that he's not the greatest athlete, and playing safety in the NFL is no joke. He's kind of a hybrid player.

But I think he can be a Kavon Frazier type, so he's worth keeping.

Wilson flashed above average athleticism and ball skills at A&M. From the games I watched, his biggest issue was inconsistency.

That aside, I think he makes the 53

He's the type of guy that will never standout at practice. It takes the full speed action of a game for him to shine.

So cut Frazier for a Frazier type player?

Football intelligence/instincts are probably more important than elite athleticism when playing safety.

If he can diagnose plays and read where the ball is going the tenths of a second slower he is will be completely negated by his knowing where to be ahead of time.

I kind of think this as well.

A big part of his game is being extremely physical, and that only truly comes in live action against another team. He is an intimidator and smart, but he is limited somewhat in coverage. His positives shine out when the bullets are flying.

I will say that his coverage is probably as good as Kam Chancellor’s and that if the rest of his game shines through, he could play SS for Richard.

Will he? That we don’t know yet.

Frazier has never showed that kind of read and react skills and INT hands in coverage.
we know Frazier's limits by now ... we really dunno know if Wilson will be Frazier like- limited (clueless and cannot match in coverage)

He’s not an elite athlete, I agree... but he’s not a bad athlete for sure. If I remember, his vertical was only a little above average but his broad jump was pretty good. I can’t remember his 40 time.

He’s definitely a good enough athlete to play the SS spot.

He also helped line up that A&M secondary and is a pretty smart guy.

His last year at A&M he was coming off injury so I think his final season he wasn’t as good in coverage as he was early on in his career. It was that last year that got him pegged as only average in coverage, so I’m hoping being a year removed from that knee will allow him to cover better.

I guess we’ll see soon enough.

He'll probably be decent.

It seems like if a safety has any talent at all they can be decent in the NFL.

I agree. Plus, I do have some confidence in Richard to get those guys in the secondary playing well.

I may not feel like Richard is the savior like some do, but I do like the way he coaches and the guy can coach the hell out of some DB’s.
