Tony Pollard can scoot.

The End.

There's the sum total meaningful review of Saturday's dressed-up practice session.

It's long been true, but never more so than now. The preseason is a complete, utter, absolute, unapologetic, pure money grab that offers no meaningful football purpose whatsoever. It's 3 hours to identify 1 or 2 guys that can play on the punt team. Nothing more. Both teams could have named 50 of their 53 opening day roster players in May.

The Rams left 20 of their 22 starters in California. Dallas was without Zeke, Cooper, Tyron, Lawrence, and Jones, and played the rest of the meaningful guys for a hiccup. Then it was a battle for last place in the Big Sky Conference.

The NFL has to stop this. Why show the world your underpants for just for a few dollars. The owners are pimping these preseason games out to the unwashed masses purely for profit, because the players get paid next to nothing for these games. Stop dressing these games up like Harry Hines' finest.

No, I don't want an 18-game schedule. But the NFL needs to stop insisting on 4 of these time wastes. The networks hate it. The players hate it. We hate it. The coaches mostly hate it.

It's just a good way to get players injured for the sake of blackmailing networks and season ticket holders into buying into this garbage.

I agree. I’m not a fan of the 18 game regular season schedule either. Although it seems like it may be inevitable.

But cutting down to 2 preseason games sounds solid to me.

One dress rehearsal type game. And one for evaluating back ups.

Teams can do more scrimmages with other teams if they want to evaluate back ups against other teams.

1st string did what they needed to do. backups continue working to try to win a job be it in Dallas or else where. I think too many look at pre season in the same light as a reg season game. There not these are for the most part is practice. Win or lose means nothing but getting in the work does mean a lot. No one complains about players putting in the work during the week in training camp and these sessions with other teams is to get in work as teams get ready for the reg season. Many complain about it I would suggest don't watch it if it upsets you this much

My summary is Rams starters didn’t play.

And Pollard will be a good situational back.
Agree that results might likely be different against a regular-season starting D, but Pollard hit his holes quickly and, like Zeke, tends to run straight downfield. Those traits will be beneficial against any defense.

I agree about not switching to 18 games what I do not get is this view of pre season. It is good live action work for players with refs calling it.

It was interesting that Pollard & his teammate RB Darrell Henderson were both in that game.

They were 2 of my favorite players in the 2019 draft.

Henderson was the starter in college. If he had not been on the team, Pollard likely would have been drafted earlier than the 4th round.

The Cowboys defense must have been good against the run in the game.
- Henderson was terrific in college.
- The Rams blocking scheme destroyed the Cowboys in the playoffs.

The latest I read have the scrapping of 2 preseason games for expanding the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14.

Have the #2 seed play the #7 seed in the first round. That means the #1 seed has the only bye. No mention of an 18 game season.

Makes sense to me. This seems to be a good solution for reducing the preseason without more regular season games.

I watch all 4 PS games from start to finish. But yes, after 2 PS games, I just want them to be done and onto the regular season.
Maybe 3 would suffice. As the 4th game is everyone but the starters and even many 2nd team guys do not play or so it seems. I will still watch it. But the posts in the game thread seem more interesting at times. But I still will watch every play.

I don't understand why fans complain so much about preseason games. It might affect season ticket holders but otherwise it does not cost other fans anything.

Getting to see players that we won't see much if at all during the season is great, IMO.

I even enjoy attending preseason games in person because it's few or very low cost and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
- It would be the best time/place for families with young kids to attend games.
- I've seen little kids having a terrific time at ps games with families that might never afford regular season games due to have several kids.

a lot of rookies make the roster based on their play in the 3rd and 4th quarters of preseason games. phillips, olumba, and a few wr's all helped themselves. even te's mcelroy and the other guy helped themselves. that's the purpose of having these games. auditions.

Preseason games really suck.
I love them.

I would be in favor of the NFL implementing some requirements for teams with regards to ps games.
- Set some requirements for playing starters a set number of series each game unless they have injury issues.
- Maybe 1 series in game 1, 3 in game 2, and a full half in game 3.

I would not want to force Tyron or Zack Martin to play if they have a sore back; however, the Rams completely not playing starters should not be allowed.
