Every time I see something on TV about Lincoln Riley the reporter spouts out future coach of the Dallas Cowboys. It gets my conspiracy theory juices flowing...

Exhibit #1: Garrett is a lame duck coach..
Exhibit #2: Dak is a lame duck QB. Lincoln might not want him..
Exhibit #3: Zeke in Cabo eating Fish Tacos and chasing Senoritas.. Lincoln thinks Rb's are disposable
Exhibit #4: Young Defense. Richards got this taken care off
Exhibit #5: Plenty cap space... For Lincoln to shape the offense..

I believe they have one eye on Riley and are willing to let this season play out so they don't saddle him or the next coach with unwanted players/contracts. This isn't tinfoil stuff, it's a billion dollar company having a backup plan for a coach who isn't under contract next season...duh.

"Hey Lincoln, want to work for me where you don't have final say on anything and I sit in on meetings when I feel like it? Oh yeah, the players will come directly to me if they want to? And I can't ever stop talking to the media? And my son who got his job handed to him is your boss?"

"Oh boy! I was wishing upon a star this would happen!"

He's O dependent and is a coach in a conference with jokes for D's, he's another Kingsbury entering the NFL. He's the beneficiary of Stoop's recruiting and if he coached in the SEC or Big 10, he wouldn't even be on the NFL radar.

Any team that hires him as HC, better have him in a dual role and a strong DC. He will go the way of Chip Kelly and back to the college ranks within 3 years. Unless he works for the Cowboys and Booger will keep him because he does have fun offenses to watch and it is all about that entertainment factor.

For me the point of bringing Riley to Dallas would be to coach Dak.

One, he's recruited much better than Stoops, other than Stoops' first few years. If anything, Stoops was the beneficiary of Riley's recruiting since LR got the OC job. Two, he put up 48 and 34 points on SEC defenses in the playoff games, so it's not that he's going against bad defenses.

I'm just not sure Riley would want to leave yet -- and most of all, that Jerry would hire him. Riley is a smart, in-demand coach who would want plenty of say and wouldn't be the puppet Jerry is used to.

Lincoln Riley has a huge talent advantage at OU that he would never have in the NFL. Ask Nick Saban how that worked out for him. It’s harder to be a “coaching genius” when the talent playing field is more equal. The giants of college football like Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio State, for example, are able to recruit the best high school talent in America. The NFL is MUCH HARDER to coach.

I have nothing against Lincoln Riley. But I have zero confidence that he is as good a coach as the talent advantage he enjoys at OU allows him to have.

I am not sold on Riley. college coach....when was the last time a college coach had success in the NFL? not syaing its not possible, but the latest one Chip Kelly ran a high powered offense that was supposed to take over NFL...blah blah blah....

now we have Kingsbury in AZ....lets see if he has any success.....

Nick Saban, the God of college coaches...fizzeled in the NFL...

if this team is loaded and superbowl ready, I don't want a college coach, learning the ropes on the NFL wasting player years....

I Wish it would happen, but its too much of a dream. Garrett has more lives that 50 cats combined.

OU pays him too much money, he will always have a top 2 roster in his conference, and he only has a few games a year that he needs to worry about possibly losing.

It would be a total ego move for him to come coach the Cowboys because Dallas will not pay him as much as OU and his chance at failure is significantly higher.
