You can talk about how he is not an elite passer worthy of franchise QB money all you want. But the Lael Collins signing should tell you a lot about Dak and his leadership.

Dak and Collins are homeboys literally both from Louisiana. Dak raised in initially on that Mississippi river juice in Sulfur, LA moving to Haughton, LA. Lael Collins got a full dosage from Baton Rouge LA that sits right on the Mississsippi. Marcus Spears, Lael Collins, Leonard Fournette, Odell Beckham, and the Mannings to name a few. As Prince said "must be something in the water they drink".

But Dak has let his contract negotiations go to the background to allow the Cowboys to resign/extend Demarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, Lael Collins, and they will sign Elliott. It is a smart leadership move. If Dak gets a NFC Championship game team out of 2019, he will get his money and more from Jerry Jones. I think he will get it before but there is no denying that he is not prioritizing his contract in the process of getting a Super Bowl contender..

Dak has never had the Kirk Cousins drama surround him regarding a new contract. All he has done is lead. Leaders allow for others to shine and then reap the benefits. Dak now has a DE, MLB, and RT. He has an entire OL intake for a 2-5 year run, a defense that is signed for a 5-10 year run at Super Bowls.

So the Collins, Lawrence, and Smith, are signed. Who's next?

Dak is on his fourth year of a 4th rounder's rookie deal, and the 32nd highest paid starting QB in the national football league. He is also currently the only lame duck franchise QB in the league. Every day he goes unsigned is... 173 days later than it should have been.

First Dak is a hero because he didn’t hold out, even though veteran QBs don’t holdout and there is no precedence for one holding out for decades now. Then Dak is a hero because he “let” his contract slip to the background so other guys can sign deals... I suppose we have to use our imagination to pretend that Dak wouldn’t push Tank, Jaylon and Collins all into the Trinity River if they were on a bridge standing between him and a 40 million dollar per year contract...

Go look in the mirror and you will see the definition of a "Player Hater". Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Didn't dak turn down a deal in Hopes of locking up a bigger deal next year?

I agree dak is a leader, and its among his best qualities. I just dont think his contract situation fits that narrative. If he wanted to be a leader in that regard he would have signed for $25MM, and ensured plenty of cap space for the team.

That Dak Effect might very well be they have to sign every other player on that team in order to keep him as the QB. He is a game manager, and that's not a slam, and they need talent around them but if elite QB's could do it on their own, Brees and Rodgers would have more than one ring.

The real value of Prescott, the true Dak Effect, is that he forces management to focus on the team around him. They can't treat him like Romo and just get him a couple of weapons and leave it up to him.

Prescott is not a good enough passer to lift the team but he is a good enough QB to do that.
