Take a deep breath, nothing has changed

Nothings changed for some of us who were on sounder ground not falling victim to all of the hoopla surrounding the 3-0 start.

But for those we tried to remind we hadn’t been tested yet this is a wake up call to tap on the brakes.

how can you say take a deep breath nothing has changed.....it was one of the most putrid performances i have seen from cowboys recently....all the blame is on the coaches for the most inept game plan....except for defense...they played real good....i will tell yo8u what happened...the red ball express came to town
Would you consider that a different game plan was called for against a team with a defense in a very loud stadium? Think that D is not better, particularly at home, than the first 3?

One thing we learned, Moore is not there, tactically, yet. That's what these seasoned coaches do to young guys, try and wreck their strategy and see how they respond with their tactics. Then there's the execution of the plays, that left a lot to be desired, I didn't notice any coaches fumbling or missing blocks.

Which is almost every coach in the NFL and unfortunately, with few exceptions, all of the best NFL teams are in the NFC.
I had a thread last week on this subject with strength of conferences.

The AFC of course were #1 and #2 with NE and KC. Rams and Cowboys respectively following in power rankings. But the top 10 had 7 NFC teams with Bills the other top 10 in AFC.

The power rankings do change every week but the ones at the top are perhaps distancing themselves.

I’d agree the NFC is overall stronger but if none of them could probably beat the top 2 in AFC.

Being a cowboys fan is annoying sometimes

we lose a game the whole world cheers like they won a superbowl, we win they gotta move the goalpost

i just take wins....i mean were 3-1 not 0-4

It was close right up until the very end.
Our defense got turnovers and a lot pf pressure including 5 sacks and an INT.
The defense held them to 4 FG's.

This could have been a lot worse considering

To no avail, I picked the Saints to win and they really didn't pay attention to why. They saw what they wanted to see at 3-0 and thought the team would just steam roll the Saints and run all over them.

It's not so much they lost as some are pissed that they were wrong. How dare they not be who I thought, and told everyone, they were. I know, been there myself.

I do not blame anyone, I do give credit to Payton for doing what he needed to do with two evenly matched teams. He did exactly what the Cowboys did to him last season, turn the game into a street fight and make sure it's close. The team with the fewest mistakes wins.

Defensively Saints had an answer. They shut down Elliott and pressured Dak.

If we can’t get the running game going we’re going to struggle with play action. Fundamental stuff. And I think we’re already seeing in two games the significance of losing Gallup as defenses are crowding Cooper without a serious threat on other side.

Two key fumbles impacted the game. One led to Saints FG and other stopped a drive we probably score.

And we did make an adjustment coming out of halftime for our only TD drive limiting Daks time in pocket for quick releases but couldn’t sustain. That turned out to be only time we touched the ball in 3rd qtr.

Again, not rushing the ball killed us on TOP and we struggled converting 3rd downs as the Pressure stifled Daks presence in the pocket. Perfect execution of scheme by Saints on defense. We never had much of an answer.

I admit I was wrong. I thought we'd put 30 on the saints. I underestimated their defense and overestimated our offense. Now, do I think they would do that to our offense everytime if we played 10 times? Maybe. That game was pretty much a carbon copy of last season's game. What I see is 2 pretty evenly matched teams slugging it out. If we are fortunate enough to meet them in the playoffs I think you'll see a similar style game, even with Brees back.

Just step back and think about this. The Rams lost to the Bucs at home, the Chiefs and Pats had difficulty winning their games respectively. The saying on any given Sunday is true. The sky is not falling as some may think.

Totally agree. And if the Saints hadn’t had so many offensive holding that put Bridgewater in 3rd and longs it might not have been as close.

Saints defense was the big story last night much like ours was last year when we upset them.

One game doesn’t define a team or season. We will learn even more this week.

The defense didn't lose the game... they actually played quite well holding the Saints to 4 field goals and, along the way getting 5 sacks and an interception. Far from a finished product, but not bad.

My compliant about the D was the 3rd Quarter drive they gave up right after we scored. We got 1 drive in the 3rd Q. And also at the end of the game. The Saints got the ball back with over 4 min on the clock. We didn't get the ball until there were under 2 minutes in the game. While they played good overall, we really needed them to step up on those two situations and they didn't.

One TV analyst said it right yesterday, "the week to week NFL".

The only constant is that this season is really the sloppiest I've ever seen. Just the fundamentals of the game like blocking, tackling and the snap count are out of whack. There are also a lot of injuries this early in the season.
