Rather than just going off the rails every week, I personally try to assess the team each week and see what we have, where we are and the pros and cons of our team. While wins tend to sanitize everything and losing tends to make everything look horrible, I try to not follow that roller coaster.
I have been calling out the lack of pressure on the QB since the beginning of the season along with what I perceived was putrid run defense. I have been told, by posters I respect, that we actually have good run defense. I’m sorry guys but I’m not buying it.
Our defense sucked eggs again yesterday. Piss poor QB pressure. Piss poor run defense, right up the gut, This should be a wake up call for the team in that area. As I see it we have piss poor defensive coaching, and no talent at all at DT. We need Woods back in a bad way and we need to go get a one year rental on a DT if we want to win anything or hope Woods can play every down,
Kellen Moore is a mixed bag. He is doing great being innovative and helping us score points. We need to keep him around, but he learned on the job yesterday. We should have just run the ball. We wanted to win in a flashy way, instead of just taking advantage of Green Bay’s porous run defense. Strategic error, big time.
I like Dak’s willingness to go down the field but he is quite simply getting far too greedy. Often times he had a man wide open on a shorter route that would have gone for a big gain, but he threw it long into double and triple coverage instead.
I think now we are getting a pretty good taste of why the Raiders were willing to trade a guy like Amari. Great talent, but the drops are maddening. The tide started against us with Amari’s deflection. Many will just see the success he had but his detriment to the team was also on display.
Linebackers aren’t playing well, but I think it is schematic rather than skill issues. On defense I would fire Marinelli and Richard today and hire an interim DC. Both of these guys are clowns. This defense has an abundance of talent and these clowns are wasting it.
We pay Zeke and the OL all that money and only run him a few times against one of the worst run defenses in the league. That’s on Garrett for letting that happen.
We lost the game because of turnovers but Green Bay held the entire game on our defense. It’s a continuous trend with Green Bay. Maybe we need to adopt that strategy. The long pass interference play against us was also complete BS and should have been overturned.
Speaking of turnovers, we never seem to get any. It’s an epidemic around here. It HAS to be coaching because it has lasted regardless of who we trot out there.
Gallup is the real deal. The team should give serious consideration to flipping Amari for a pick, drafting a WR and going with Gallup as the #1.
In spite of what many will say, because of the losses, I think Dak has shown that he has the ability to open it up and be a Tom Brady type of QB, he just needs to find a happy medium on his risk/reward analysis, as the pendulum has swung a little bit too far in the opposite direction.
