This is a bizarre post. Who said you have to care about what I say? I don't have to care about what you say either. But this is a public forum, and if you don't want anyone responding to your posts, your only option is to not post here.

But since you did post that the time for to jump ship would have been when Jimmy left, in that context it's really not odd to point out that people who would have done that were really never disposed to hang around long term anyway. That doesn't mean I care that they left. There are always going to some fans that come and go. That's factual, not emotional.

I'm at a loss to see what is bothering you so much about what I posted anyway. There really wasn't anything offensive or even derogatory toward you. I have no idea what could have struck a nerve
I'm not bothered or offended, im confused why you pointed this information out to me to begin with? Did you think i needed a reminder about when and why fans would bail and that it's ok because they would have bailed anyway? If this is the case what lead you to believe that i didn't already know this information to begin with?

To me it seems you do care about what fans do and think, and now that i pointed it out your denying it, and at the same time your basiclly double downing.

You can go ahead and take the last word, make it good one.

2007 vs NYG, and @ GB in 2014, and vs GB in 2016 is all the proof I need that a puppet master controls team destiny not the players on the field that day

So you're calling the rulebook a puppet master. Didn't know black and white print in existence before games are played had that power but you learn something new every day.

And what do you think that will accomplish? It’s a serious question because the same General Ripper that’s been in control for the past quarter-century will be the one hiring Garrett’s successor.

You find a better coach. Garrett sucks and had zero experience when he was hired. And Jerry's been married to him like they were high school sweethearts. It's the most ridiculous setup and it needs to be gone. Ridiculous on day 1 still ridiculous in year 13. I'm not saying he's getting a guy like Parcells, but you don't see a difference between a quality coach paired with Jerry OR Jason and Jerry? It truly has become a very pathetic situation.

My doomsday clock is at about 11:50. Where are you guys at? Could you give up football?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

WJ, I totally understand. I'm at 11 myself. Not too far behind you, for mostly the same reasons. The last 3 games have drained me, and I didn't even watch the Jets game, figuring they HAD to win to bounce back, so I made other plans that day. Now I'm glad I didn't watch, just saw the "lowlights".

I'm ready to fully capture my Sundays back in the fall, and treat football like I do baseball and the NBA....don't really care until the playoffs, mainly just watch the highlights, and only watch occasionally, not even full games, and then pay more attention once the playoffs start.

It would have been inconceivable to me years ago but I am strongly considering giving up my fan hood and watching any NFL. I know it sounds maudlin and dramatic but I have lost so much joy for the league and have interests elsewhere that I actually think it could happen. I am a hockey maniac so it’s not like there is no winter sport for me. Cowboys aside I hate what this league has done and the games are unwatchable at times. I also have no hope that the Cowboys will re capture their glory as long as the Jones family owns them. I used to think things would be better when Jerry passed on but I think Stephen will be worse is some ways. Watching this team sleep walk through the last 3 games and Jerry defending this clown of a coach has me nearing the end of the line. I went Salmon fishing the last few days so really didn’t pay attention to the game. My buddy and I were actually howling over the Jets beating them. I dropped a note here early last week and all but predicted how that game could turn out. It did.

My doomsday clock is at about 11:50. Where are you guys at? Could you give up football?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
I am way ahead of you. I have not watched a game since a few games to go in the 2017 season. I see no need to support a team I know has zero chance of contending due to an unqualified coach. I had already quit buying anything Cowboy related and decided to take it a step farther. I finally realized I was watching as more of an obligation of being a fan for so many decades than for enjoyment. Once I realized that I have not watched a single NFL game since then. I have not missed it and it is even nice to not have to worry about the preacher being long winded for the noon games. I obviously still care about the team hence my still visiting this site (and a few others) and will never support another team but I will NEVER watch a Jason Garrett coached team again. If and when Jerry comes to his senses and makes a change I will be watching the next game. For now I am happy supporting my Houston Rockets and Houston Astros.

I am a NY Rangers fan. Classy organization that knows what it’s doing.

The Stars are a fun team. Lots of talent with a good goalie. You guys are a contender.

The Stars a contender? Have you watched them this season? They are a mess.

I think some of fan apathy has to do with the NFL turning a blind eye to really bad officiating league-wide.

If it was bad officiating across the board for every single team, that would be one thing. But when it looks like blatant favoritism to certain teams and players week after week, that is another.

NFL refs have stole the show and the game is more about them than it has ever been. It's pathetic. It's hard to even watch games any longer with how much control the refs have these days.

If Garrett is back in 2020 then Jerry Jones officially ruined this team with no hope and no end in sight. I’m done with that.

He's already ruined this team and it started with his massive ego after the second Super Bowl in firing a coach that just won back to back Super Bowls. Sure they won one more after that but that was because the roster was still so strong and the leaders of this team were strong as well. But after that Super Bowl against Pitt in 1995, this franchise has declined to the levels of Lions and Commanders. Us and those 2 teams are the only ones who have not made the NFC title game in the last 2 decades. We are no more than the Houston Texans.

Jerry doesn't care about winning or the fans. Sure, he might try and sell you that he does but any owner who keeps Jason as head coach for nearly a decade and still has GM duties even though he knows zero, is not serious about winning. They only care about their ego. I mean most owners have massive egos but they all know to step out of the way when it comes to the personnel. Not Jerry, though.

You are way overthinking and searching for something more than the simple fact that this is a discussion, and we are all free to make comments we think are relevant to a discussion. There is no deeper meaning or ulterior motive. There is no in between the lines. I didn't make any comment about whether it was okay or not okay if people bailed. That's just you projecting what you choose to into my comment. But you don't get to do that, at least not if you care for logic or reason. It was only meant to indicate that whether someone bails on a team because of an individual moment has a correlation to how long and committed they were to the team to begin with. Surely you would agree that a long time fan would be less likely bail on the team at the point in time you indicated than a person who first became a fan only a few years earlier at a point the team was having more success.

You don't seem to understand that the mere act of making a comment doesn't mean a person cares about the action he is commenting on. Sometimes a comment is simply a statement of fact or an opinion on why something happens that the person believes is relevant to the discussion.

Your Astros are about to put my Yankees out of their misery. Cole and Verlander are an unstoppable 1-2.

I would have never thought of rooting for the Cowboys to lose the last century. Correction, I did it once in 1988 so we could get Aikman and I actually felt bad because that was Coach Landy's last team. This century I've done it 3 or 4 times but Garrett keeps turning it around and surviving. We're cursed.

Yeah, it really sucked last year when we came back from 3-5 to make the playoffs. Who wants that?

Specially when the owner doesn't give a crap. It's one thing to claim he 'really wants to win' but his actions over the course of a quarter of a century tells a different story.

So Jerry "doesn't want to win" but he spends billions on facilities and consistently pays the highest salaries to staff?

Here is a hint, if Jerry doesn't care Will McClay would have been the GM of a different team years ago. And Michael Gallup would have gone to his brother's funeral on a commercial flight instead of Jerry's private jet.

All absolutely true and to let it go on this long really speaks volumes.

He wasn't fired. It was a mutual splitting of ways because of personality issues. I agree with all the rest of what you say though he did hire Parcells. JG just does enough to keep from getting fired. There is enough talent on the roster to stay above 500 each year.

I love clown posts of "Aint done nothing in 25 years!!!" while calling me a moron.

25 years ago and 23 years ago we won Super Bowls......moron.

While he had no say in the roster or how Jimmy managed football games. 94 was when he decided he wanted to be 'part of the fun'. That's a direct quote and there's been no looking back. Some still think he played a huge part in winning championships back then. As fast it came, it went. he definitely saw to that. 25 years is a very long time. Guess you're just going to chalk it up as a dry spell before he gets back to his winning ways? Cross your fingers and hope for the best!

No way I give up my fanhood...............my allegiance is to the Dallas cowboys organization not to Jerry Jones or whoever owns them. I have great memories of this team long before Jerry came along.

Pretty much this. I do also have some good memories of the Cowboys before Jerry and in the early years of Jerry before he went to the Al Davis school of arts and still hasn't sobered up.

I can't say I would stop watching. But, I can't, won't. I just don't make it my only thing to do. If something better comes along that day/night, I can stand missing a game or so every once in a while.

My teams haven't had any success recently (college or NFL) but I still watch because I love the game.

Here's where it's at from where I sit. I think more than a few people over-identify with their sports teams so much that the teams' winning or losing becomes an extension of themselves and if the team loses, then they're losers by extension which is a thought some just cannot allow to exist. This is where you get the conspiracy theories to convince one's self that the team didn't "really" lose, they were cheated and justice must be had! Lol. There's also the ability to say that your team is better than your friends' or rivals' team. So if you can't have the upper hand consistently and get railed on then you just don't want to participate anymore. High school runs deep, man. Lol.

Your point was that Jerry doesn't care and you keep crying about ancient history. Try to stay on topic.
