BS, Barry won with his team. He could have had another if not for the SF refs.

The field had something to do with it also in 94, but Barry stormed the field bumped the ref and got a 15 yard penalty when the game was still in doubt. I liked Switzer, but a little more coaching could have gotten us at least another ring during that era.

Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl with Jimmy's team. Of course, if he were any better of a coach, he probably could have won two.
That was 2+ decades ago. The league has changed significantly since then.

And Switzer was a better coach than Garrett.

Leadership is not the problem. The players already play with discipline, desire, and determination. They follow Garrett's direction and believe in him as evidenced by his words and aphorisms coming out of their mouths.

The issue is tactics, strategy, and willingness to delegate.
So the issue is direction. Which is exactly what OP said.

What did you like about the way Switzer coached?
I didn't say I liked the way Switzer coached.

I said the guy who won a Super Bowl and made an NFCG in 2 years, and who was also one of the winningest CFB coaches of all time prior to taking the Cowboys job, was a better coach than the guy who has won 2 playoff games in 10 years and who did absolutely nothing noteworthy in his coaching career prior to being named to the most high-profile head job in the NFL.

I'll take the Switzer hire over the Garrett hire every day of the week and twice on Sunday. And it has nothing to do with liking Switzer's coaching style.

Switzer was known to party hard Saturday nights and be hungover on game day. He was smart enough to let his assistants run the game.

The key players were assembled by Landry and Johnson, with a huge assist from Mike Lynn. Switzer had very little to say about player and coaching personnel. Most were holdovers from Johnson.

The big issue with Jason Garrett has always been sustaining a winning consistency.

Too often, JG-coached teams lose inexplicably to weak teams and then, maddeningly, manage to beat superior teams.

Bottom-line: no postseason advancement beyond the div round.

Jerry still doesn't get it.
You can have the best player at every position, but without adequate coaching it won't matter.
Jerry is trying to buy a Super Bowl victory, but greatness cannot be bought.
It cannot be decided. You can't "Be great today".
Greatness can only be earned with discipline, desire, and determination; but you also need the fourth "D".
Direction.
"Without a vision, men perish."
Without the right leadership, there is only confusion.
This is an off-season thread. We are in 1st place in our division. You don't fire your coaching staff mid-season when you are in first place.

And that will never change...including this year... One and done if they make it the divisional round. They have a tough schedule coming up.

This thread is meant for the adults. It's over your head.

Yeah there is a cohort of clueless homers here for sure. Any negativity is met with attacks. Bottom line is this team is a bottom feeder now. More like Jets, Bills and Dolphins and unlike the Pats, Seahawks and Packers.

I think the bigger issue was falling behind 21-0 halfway through the first quarter thanks to pick six, fumble, and fumble the first three times we touched the ball.

The closest Dallas got the rest of the way was 10 points.

Sad, but true. As much as I wanted Adams, I did not feel he was going to single handedly be able to overcome the lack of a head coach. But I thought the next coach would have a future HOF safety to play with. I know wishful thinking, on the next coach deal...

I'd rather my privates be connected with herpes then my views of the Cowboys to be connected with leeblair. Maybe see if the mods can delete this post you made proving you have a post of leeblair liking and agreeing with a post you made? If that doesn't work... I dunno man..good luck.

Doing the right thing is always right.
Garrett should have been gone in 2008 after the playoff collapse of 2007.
He should have been fired after the first half of the opening night debacle of the 2010 season vs the Commanders .
He should have been fired after the first half of the Green Bay Massacre that cost Phillips his job and told to find his own way back to Dallas.
He should NEVER have been made head coach after seeing the futility and incompetence of his offensive coordination.
He has single handedly destroyed the integrity of the Cowboys franchise.
The very instant he is fired the Cowboys will become a better team.

I'm a believer that Garrett can win if he has talent like our 1990s teams had. But I believe that's the only way that a Garrett-coached team can get by the top teams in the league because he's not going to outscheme them.

So as long as Garrett is coach of this team, I'm all for trying to acquire the talent it will take for our team to win.

I agreed with his post. I think your response here nicely details the dark side of this forum. Look, this is an opinion based forum. People are entitled to an opinion. You can agree or not. You'd rather have an STD than agree with a post on the Cowboyszone? Really? Grow a brain please.

I hate Garrett as much as anyone else, but has a Head Coach ever been fired on a bye week while also in first place for the division?

Doesn't really make much sense at this point.
