the whole sideline was there because Minnesota was walking down the field.

i just watched the all 22 this is not true. They didnt stop running until he caught the ball and the outside gunner #27 was triple teamed.

Had they not told austin to fair catch he may have taken it inside their 25 or scored. Minnesota snapped the ball from there 9.5 yard line and went safe on the protection. It was the perfect time for a return. The Dallas coaching staff completely blew it.

I won't be surprised to see austin inactive this week and wilson active because that is how things happen around here.

also I just looked at the all 22 and one of the coaches, an african american man which I can not tell who exactly it is because the all 22 is grainy immediately is upset and puts his hands on his head when the ball is in the air and austin calls for the fair catch.

I think that was Richard.

Not to be nit-picky but it was 20 yards to the nearest Viking, 15 yards to the nearest play who was a Cowboy. But let's say Austin is able to return this down the left sideline. There are lots of blockers in front of him. I'd say he has a better than even chance to get at least to the 20 yard line. Can we assume there would be no holding of block in the back calls? The Cowboys have burned a lot of good returns with penalties like that. But lets assume they manage to stay clean. How much time would be left on the clock? Maybe 12 seconds at most? Probably 10. They would have two tries to get the ball into the end zone, assuming Moore didn't try to hand it off to Zeke! I like the Cowboys chances from the 20 with 2 plays a lot better than their own 45 with 3 plays, but its still a really, really long shot. So much could go wrong. A sack could end the game for example.

The coaches lying about what they told Austin is really bad and threatens to blow up the locker room. But the game was lost on the last Cowboys drive. Its that simple.

Stupid Tavon. Just make a freaking play for once. That guy is a walking talking excuse machine. Has he ever done anything to help this team win? Sure the coaches suck but no punt returner worth a nickel would have fair caught that thing.

if it is true it came from the special teams coach, why hasn't garrett fired him already? especially if this is making garrett look like an idiot.

This is a somewhat misleading photo. Austin called the fair catch very early, and the Vikings players pulled up early.

However, if they pulled their gunners in to max protect, it never should have been an auto fair catch situation.

And Austin has a long history of stupid plays. He's a mistake waiting to happen at any second.

could be because it does look like he is wearing a hat backwards and holding a play sheet. Its just so grainy. I would have to look at the regular broadcast to see if that is him.

bull****, you don't need the all 22, the camera behind Austin shows them jogging down the field. Triple teamed? two of Dallas' players have their back to #27 because they're jogging also. lol

Exactly. Minny had their gunners in to block the rushers. They were more concerned about the punt getting blocked than our return.

Good analysis Mike! Max protect is always a good time for a return but the Cowboys are never aware of the situation!

Looking at the all-22 realistically where do you think he ends up of he returns it?

Sorry blaming the ST coach is ridiculous. The HC needs to be aware of these things. This is his call to make. After 10 years they're still having "communication" issues. Somethings wrong. really wrong. But blaming O'Quinn is a load of crap.

B/c Jason Garrett is the one responsible for making that call. He is the one responsible for making sure players/coaches know that "it's not a fair catch if the gunners aren't wide."
