When you stop Zeke and force Dallas to throw it changes the entire complexion of the game. Even if Dallas throws with success like they did last night. When Zeke is dominant you’re scoring points, using clock, and keeping your undersized defense on the sidelines. When you are slinging it around to score the scoring drives are fast (I think 3 of them last night were under 3 minutes with the fourth being like 5 minutes). So your already dodgy defense gets even more exposed.
Well, the undersized BBDB-forever defense better get in shape (D Law, this means you! Mr. I need to sit out this 3rd down because I'm tired
), because the Cowboys won't be able to force feed Zeke every game, especially not early when the defense is simply waiting on all those 1st down runs. The Cowboys should come out throwing, using play action liberally, and going DOWNFIELD so they know we're looking for big gains early. Then, later in the game, get Zeke some touches (and can he get a screen pass please?).
Cowboys can't count on always winning the time of possession to win, so the defense needs to get ready for a few more possessions. The offense needs to score, early and often, and can't be worried about the defense's fatigue level. They're football players getting paid a lot of money...so demand more from them (and use the DL and LB depth to spell starters on occasion).
