The cowboys overall draft better than most teams still. Even with the taco miss and possible Hill miss.


That being said. Taking Taco over Watt was without a doubt a mistake. Regardless of system. Regardless of whether he is a great fit as a DE.

they screwed up.

I remember Andy Reid said something to that regards last year.

He was basically like "you build your system around what you have, not what you want or what you think you have".

Imagining are coaching staff doing that is almost comical unfortunately.

It could be but that’s the NFL. Cowboys were close to having Johnny Manziel, Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook as their starting quarterbacks.

Cowboys scouts including McClay viewed TJ Watt as a RE in their 4-3 scheme. And graded above Taco.
Well if that’s the case then what are we discussing here? McClay liked him and had him graded higher. Doesn’t sound like he’s to blame to me. What else could he have done?
