I'm an OG from The Ranch who used to hate the cowboys-forum site because I thought the place was too uptight. Yet now I think the moderators here are a pretty fair group haha.

The Ranch slowly deteriorated, and this forum became the more enjoyable place to post with more quality threads and posters.

My memory is super fuzzy, but Hostile, boozeman, and dale were the main posters I remember from the cowboys-forum days. There was one other really funny poster whose name escapes me as well.

Huge Hostile fan here. I know speaking of him is taboo around here but, when I think back to the "good ol days", I harken back to those classic Hostile reads. Hope he's well wherever he is.

Those were nasty times let me tell you lol. This place was crazy around that time.

Don't know how I found this site and I don't know where I got my Cowboys messages before, but I joined in April 2004. I normally don't post. I just read. As I've gotten older I find myself losing interest in the Cowboys, which when I was younger would have been unheard of. I guess when years of just being "okay" is the best you're going to be then what's the point and even when the Cowboys do have a good year you know it won't matter once they get to the playoffs.

But over the years there have been some wonderful debates between posters about Jones on down. The mods do a great job on keeping it as civil as possible.

Latuna is a she and she was a mod here once upon a time. Her posts actually convinced me to start posting way back when.

She was a big Parcells fan, but she was way more of a Terry Glenn fan than Parcells.

My fav thread was the benching of Emmitt for Troy Hambrick (sorry if this was already discussed). Hambrick becomes the starter when Emmitt goes to Arizona. Then as usual, he's even worse as a starter, fans turn on him and want him benched. I myself didn't see the Hambrick fascination.

I think my all time favorite threads here were a bit more recent ( although I do remember that discussion ) but the MS paint threads imo were the best

Man, we are all getting old. But what an interesting history this board and its users have. I've been reading message forums since the latter half of the 90's, and can remember being excited to watch grainy and blurry training camp videos on 56k dial up. Young me would never have believed so much time would pass without another championship. It's crazy that so many are still so passionate over a team that has disappointed for so long. I guess it's in our blood. Or perhaps it's mental illness? I don't know. But here we still are. I've always enjoyed reading the boards, catching up on the latest Cowboys news, and seeing all of the unique personalities giving their opinions. It's a trip.

TwoDeep was the admin for The Ranch for some time, especially after RoyP(owner) went AWOL there. Then he was kicked out by another admin who disabled all his control over the board. Crazy stuff.

Think that was a decade ago? Can't recall.

Honestly think that was the start of the fall for TR.
Favorites went drawn and well I don't believe the mods were fair in letting people post opinions that didn't align with theirs.

It’s near the holiday, and this is a fun thread, so I will pretend you don’t realize there’s a rule against publicly criticizing site moderation. As you suggest, probably a sign of a lack of moderation talent on my part yet again.

When I came over here I never logged back into the ranch. I think I left there before all that drama went down. I just remember this site around that time had a lot of great content as far as news stories which was why I joined. Man can’t believe I was a young 20’s ******* when I started and now I’m staring at 40 and still an *******. Where has the time gone?

Yes I too came over from the Ranch after lurking on both for a while. I believe it was around 01 or 02 though my profile says Nov. 04 as there was some kind of reset or transition that happen at that time.
