backtracking is a b****
It’s sad that you think this is backtracking when it’s you simply parroting a question that can’t be supported by actual performance.
backtracking is a b****
Did you watch the last two games? Why is it that people invariably try to solve the team's problems by focusing on the part of the team that isn't a problem?
The Cowboys are 2nd in yards per drive and 4th in points per drive. The disparity can be explained by the fact that they have the worst starting field position in the league.
The problems with this team are defense and special teams, not offense.
Everyone already gets this...What does Baltimore, Minnesota, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, and Houston have in common? Other than being playoff-bound football teams?
They're all running the football often and effectively this year. They lead the league in rushing. Running the football has been key for many of the top teams in the NFL.
Yet, Dallas has taken it's foot off the gas and become much more pass-happy. I guess, because they were told in the offseason that this is a passing league. Dallas is constantly reacting to what outsiders say they should do.
Sure, the Cowboys still run more than most teams, but the bulk of those rushes are early in games. Zeke has fallen into the background while they ask Dak to carry the team by air.
Newsflash for the Cowboys: Dak isn't and will never be Drew Brees or Patrick Mahomes. Pay attention.
Running the ball has been frustrating at times, but even when it's working, the Cowboys abandon it routinely. Against Buffalo, Zeke had a quick 50+ yards early on, then he only got five carries in the second with the game well in reach.
This team has no identity, even when it's stared them right in the face for years. It's maddening. They need to stop trying to be trendy and be what they are. Zeke and Pollard and a salty offensive line. Scheme to make it more effective. Stop quitting on it.
Run the damn ball.

except for the Cowboys...

Cowboys been running the football for 5 years now and they’ve been losing.
Right. So that should tell you it’s much deeper than running or passing......Well, we are throwing it this year and still losing.
The NO game featured a bizarre run-heavy game plan even when it wasn't working...that's what the OP is advocating for more of.
The NE game was in terrible weather that killed both offenses. Special teams lost the day as it often does.
The BUF game featured two missed FGs. It was a bad offensive performance, I agree.

Sure did. And saw horrible defense and special teams that present much more significant problems than the offense.Did you watch the last two games?

They're not inseparable. The special teams and defense are the reason the offense never has short fields to work with. You can't take much of anything from the Patriots game, in the conditions it was played in. Note that the Patriots couldn't generate any offense either.Whatever the reason, you can't say the offense hasn't been a problem when the defense allowed 12 points to New Orleans and we lost and 13 to the Patriots. Defense allowed too much to Detroit, but it would have been hard to win with 15 points.
I get what you are saying, but all three units have been a problem at times. The defense hasn't held up its end when the offense was doing enough and vice versa. The special teams hasn't been good for a while now.
We do need to run the ball, but not just willynilly. We need a guy on staff who understands running the ball so we run it more effectively. This crapp of just pounding it up the middle is not working, especially w/ our blocking scheme. If we're going to do that, we need some maulers up front instead of movement OL's.
YooHoo...Einstein...in order to run the ball, you need consistent good blocking up front from your Oline first. What does Baltimore, Minnesota, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, and Houston have in common? Other than being playoff-bound football teams?

Where did we start our drives? Second drive at our own 5, third drive at our own 10. We drove the ball both times but eventually stalled out. The Bills started drives at the Dallas 29, Dallas 39, their own 37. We've gone four games without a takeaway and special teams has been a disaster. The offense is never put in a good position. One team scored 13 points. The other had 26. If Dallas offense scored on its first possession of the game, then hibernated for until the very end.
I'm not defending the defense in general, but this team's biggest problem is with its painfully slow-starting offense and red zone struggles.

getting testy, are we, now that your pipe dream Garrett is about to get fired
as I had said many years ago, even blind moron Jerry will see Garrett is garbage before apologists like yourself will
When it's working they abandon it. When it's not working they force it up the gut 3 times. Garrett must goWhat does Baltimore, Minnesota, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, and Houston have in common? Other than being playoff-bound football teams?
