Players will want to be assured he will be here long-term before going all in. Just the way it is.

Folks. Meyer “retired” in part to health issues. Benign tumor and migraines I believe.

Anyone have more detail on this? Is he going to come in and suffer a relapse? Is he fully recovered?

Thanks for any updates.
Its Meyers downside. With Meyer you are hoping a shorter tenure will yield Johnsonesque results. He has that upside

This is not college.
yes..I KNOW..duh lol..but like it or not, when attracting free agents and so forth..and selling an idea..the players want to know that if they buy in, will that guy be there more than 2 years. Its a real concern with Meyer. This wont be a quick fix if we hire him..so lets get that out of the way first. This may be the toughest coaching gig outside of Cleveland, to takeover.

I have the same concern if we hire Josh McDaniel's as well. Will he flake after a 1 or 2? I NEED a coach to have at least 3 years to right this ship and install his philosophy or its just a fools errand.

You're worried about nothing. He's not going to take the job and the Cowboys wouldn't offer it unless he commits to the full length of the contract. Which would be at least 4 years.

would love it if he can commit to 4 years. I'm on board. He's a winner everywhere hes been. Everyone questioned Jimmy Johnsons "ethics" at Miami Hurricanes..but it didn't matter then..and that wont be an issue now. I LIKE BRASH ...and calculated..ballsey coaches. Meyer exudes confidence. If we could get him to stay at least 3 years...sign me up.

I disagree. Meyer's tenure was 5 and 6 years his last two stops. That is sufficient.

Plus, FAs go where the money and opportunity is. There is also this crazy gimmick called the draft that dictates your team for 4-6 years.

I dunno if the same thing applies to him at the pro level. He's never done this.

If it’s a benign tumors then I have no worries.
These are not all that uncommon and no one dies from this.

my guess is that most men at Meyers age (55) have something going on with their health somewhere. I’m sure Andy Reid isn’t the picture of great health.

I have concern with anyone we hire. But I see no reason to have more concerns with Meyer than any one else.

the guy has been a big time winner every where he has coached.

I guess..fans and players don't wanna buy in and have the rug pulled out after 1 or 2 years on the job. WE NEED REAL CHANGE. Not a flash in the pan.

Last year he got in trouble with his assistant coach and so they had him “retire”. I believe he was about to get in trouble at Florida as well before leaving.

Id assume he’d be given a full bill of health before returning to sidelines.

I'm more concerned about the health of his assistant coaches' wives.

His “health” issues only come around when his program starts to get in some sort of controversy... look it up!
that too...I don't have to look it up..your right. I am worried but I think he will be ok at the pro level. ITS VITAL HE HAS A PROPER STAFF IN HIS INNER CIRCLE TO MAKE THIS WORK. He will only be as good a s his support staff etc.

I watched the OSU/Maryland game last year and Meyer looked like he was about to have a heart attack. He kept squatting down and banging his chest.

He's dealt with the condition his entire coaching career. It's nothing new, and it's not cured.

It would require brain surgery to remove it, not worth the risk given the tumor is benign.
