Again, Jerry can do what he wants. You seem to be wanting this to be a prove it year, but to my knowledge Jerry has never said that. There are other rationales that would fit a different narrative (such as valuing Garrett going forward).

Dak was also treated the same way last year. There is little doubt the team did not intend to get rid of Dak but to establish contract value going forward.

Risk of loss is another reason for waiting. You may be right in your connecting of the dots. All I am saying is the fact you want it to be true so badly does not make it a certainty.

Sure Jerry could change his mind, but when Stephen Jones goes on the radio and says "nobody wants Jason to be the head coach more than me, but he has to get the team over the hump and Jason understands that". Stephen Jones said this in August.

If that is not a defacto "prove it" year, I really dont know what is.

I'm out if Jason is back...

The last few weeks I've come to terms that the real writing is on the wall... Jerry will extend Jason Garrett... As frustrating as that is....

Me too...…either Garrett goes or me.........you can tell the mods to delete my account and block my IP address...……...I'm out.

I don’t think you will do that. I believe you mean it today. But you are a fan. You aren’t going anywhere.

Jerry knows what comes next is fan apathy. We walk if he does it. This year was the first time that I didnt watch entire games win or lose. They keep JG and it gets worse.

I am not sure what Jerry will do. But I think all options including extending Garrett are on the table.

I have been saying all along that I think it’s 50/50 that Garrett is retained as HC. The big win tonight bumped the odds slightly higher for Jerry retaining Garrett.

It got the team to .500. The team played another complete game on O and D.

it allows Jerry to convince himself that with a bounce here or there we are 10 and 6 or better which is true.

I don’t know if Jerry will can Garrett or not, but I know he doesn’t want to.

The fans would not, on the whole, be happy with that. But what if:

1. Jerry fired the special teams coach tomorrow
2. Marinelli gets the boot too
3. Jerry makes a run at another legit DC candidate and keeps the better of the DC prospect or Richard.
4. Announces that Jason failed buy he has one year to right the ship.

I think half the mad fans could get on board with that. Maybe even 3/4.

If Garrett gets one more year to right the ship I will jump ship.

I think Garrett is gone, he was hugging Brill on the field after the game in such a way as her consoling him for an impending loss.

They have probably been working on the new prospects for head coach for weeks if not longer.

That is why I will have the mods block my IP address, so I will not be tempted next September to create a new account and start posting again.

I'm serious dude.

I think you overestimate the fans. There is nothing Jerry could do to sell the fanbase on another year of Garrett. He has failed to do his job in Dallas. Changing coordinators again is something we all have already seen. There is no reason to being him back. He had this year to right the ship and he failed miserably. It’s time for him to go. They bring him back and I will be very apathetic next year. Will watch sparingly.

Garrett's "leadership" couldn't even beat a super injury riddled roster of practice squad Eagles to secure the Division. That's ALL you need to know of Garrett's coaching. The win against Washington? Meaningless bone throw.

Possibly, it's his team. However he was interviewed a few weeks after the blowout to the Rams last year. He was asked directly about a Garrett extension, this was his response: “I think I’ve made clear how I feel about Jason in terms of where he is right now as far as our ability to help us win football games. I think if you look at what we’ve done over the last few years, you’ll see a pretty good winning record there. But it’s not enough, not enough.” I think that most inferred he gets one last year.

This was after going 10-6 wining the division and a playoff game against the Hawks. We regressed this year with basically the same team if not a better one. He's made several negative comments this year regarding the teams performance as well. He might not have directly said it word for word, but it seemed to infer that Jason get's one last chance.

If he is back, I won't watch a single game next year, until I see we're comfortably in the playoffs. I'm that far over it, and convinced it's coaching. Top to bottom. We should have walked away with the NFCE.

After the games Garrett has family on the field on home games, this looked telling and may not be the norm, this was after today’s game.

It's funny... so many say he's a "good man"... they forget when he sabotaged Wade Phillips for his own advancement...

Several players have confirmed this, but only Jesse Holley has put it on record...
