Jerry fires Tom Landry in 5 min on a golf course. Yet somehow he can’t bring himself to ax the guy who took us to the playoffs 3 times in 9 years.

To be fair, Landry didn't massage his ego and kissed his butt for 40 years.

Crazy. 3 meetings to get rid of a coach with 2 playoff wins. We are paying for all the joy we had in the 90s as a Cowboys fans
You realize Jason Garrett has brothers in the front office. And they’re probably trying to figure out where they’re going to move Jason. He’s not leaving the organization in my opinion. You might make a very good GM

I think it takes quite a while to craft a job and salary for a newly made up role that doesn't actually do anything. It's not easy to figure out a position that has no power or authority over McClay's role or the newly appointed head coach.

I'm spitballing, but I can't help but to think of some role where Garrett 'helps' the next head coach, especially if it's one of the aforementioned college coaches making the transition to the pros. Not like Garrett would be a good source of assistance based on his own struggles to adjust, but I can see this crack pot bunch seeing it as a compromise and a good idea.

It's all about the feels here. Jones never knew Landry personally so there was no emotional attachment. He also had absolutely no idea how things work in the NFL when he fired Landry. Now he just thinks he does, so he acts from a position of confidence and arrogance. And every decision he makes when it comes to Garrett is made with personal feelings overruling the actual results. To the detriment of the team and on-field product.
Jerry does the same thing to personnel players. There’s no room for loyalty in this game any longer. You produce or you’re going. But that’s not how this franchise works. I will always be a cowboy fan. Does not mean I’m a fan of this current organization

hey, I know, a self styled “Cowboy historian” who was (and I presume still is) a huge Garrett sniffer but now comes here very rarely, used to tell us that “Garrett gives a great PC”

maybe the new HC can hire this moron to do the PCs

Same here. And Jones has proven over the last 25 years that operating a billion dollar company like a 'family business' doesn't work. At least not on the field. And yet, feelings are given far too much weight in a results-based business.

you can bet he would be here preening if Garrett had not proven to be a complete and total failure

I remember saying to the likes of him and some who are still here, that even Jerry would accept Garrett is trash before you guys do and that has come to be true

It's a valid point. But JJ marches to his own beat.
^ This. Some people get it.

Jerry Jones is constantly bombarded by criticism that he does not know enough of what he is doing as a general manager. Has been getting it for years.

He has not been put on blast often (thanks media guys ) but he does see and hear it enough (thanks Aikman ) that he is not clueless of how others perceive his job performance.

So, what does Jones do typically? He doubles, triples, quadruples down on doing it his way. Sure, he has advisors. Allows them to adopt and follow his vision of what winning football should look like.

That is his major flaw. Jones constantly denies and pushes back on getting truly different perspective from outside opinion. Opinion from qualified sources. Opinion from people with fresh perspective.

It should have been his downfall decades ago. Jones is also the owner though. So he gives himself do-overs that he ‘knows’ are perfectly okay because he IS the owner.

He is who he is.

Their credibility died with his. At this point, I don't give a **** what they have to say about anything anymore. Their opinions mean jack.

No one cares about his stupid feelings for the clapping carrot , if it hurts this team even on a microscopic level he should have moved on sooner so that the next phase may begin .
There is a real chance now the meetings are about new coordinators and he’s staying as coach , which means ten more years of complete mediocrity.

It is time for fans to just stop watching Cowboy games and stop attending games. Until that happens, Jerry will NEVER change. Why should he? He makes money hand over fist as if he is printing it himself. The disgust fans have right now needs to go further by not paying attention to this mess of an organization anymore. This is what Jerry FEARS, apathy from fans. Fans who are passionate and loyal only fuel his fire to keep doing what he always does. We are enabling him. Once we fans stop enabling Jerry, then and only then will Jerry change.

Ball is in our court.
