McCarthy didn't win anything without Brett Farve or Aaron Rodgers, and in a bad division.

Lewis had Palmer and Dalton in a division with Pittsburgh and Baltimore, and he worked four the cheapest ownership in the NFL.

Lewis was in major demand when he was at Baltimore, where he built the best defense of the past 25 years.

Did you know Marvin Lewis built that Ravens defense?

Someone inform Ozzie Newsome.

Nothing to see here. Every team has to abide by the Rooney Rule. We are not interested.

So hire him as a coordinator? Because as a head coach he was even worse than Garrett. Never won one single playoff game in 7 tries. And that was 20 years ago. Marinelli was apart of the the great Bucs defense (2002) and the really good Bears defense (2010) and look what he's done here...Having success in the distant past does not equate to present day success.

Except Lewis actually had some real success as a coordinator before he landed the Cincinnati job. I don’t want him in Dallas but he’s an upgrade to Garrett.

He put together one of the greatest defensive units ever for the Ravens (2000 season). Lewis as a DC makes more sense. Head Coach? Nah.

Hes not good

Hes better than Garrett playoff wins be damned.

Garrett is not making the playoffs in 5 consecutive seasons with Andy Dalton. Couldnt even get this team to the playoffs in a historically weak NFC East

Maybe, maybe not. But 15 years, zero playoff wins is positively Garrett-esque.

or DC to pair with Lincoln Riley.
but he aint interviewing for that.
he's interviewing to be HC.
The HC interview could lead to DC offer by the Cowboys, if he gets no HC offers he might be willing. Couldn't or he wouldn't want to interview as DC just yet. Might be a way for Jerry to size him up only.

I would not be adverse to McCarthy as Head Coach and Marvin Lewis as his DC. Two birds with one stone

Are you saying Marvin is not capable of being a HC in the NFL and is not capable of proposing a viable argument to the Cowboys that he can get our team to the next level?

I'm saying it is very unlikely that Jones has any intention of handing the reigns to someone who coached so long with such a useless post season record. And don't be so impatient.

So were conducting interviews for HC of the Dallas and still haven't heard from Jerry Jones or Stephen Jones about the status of Jason Garrett.
That is the strangest thing i've ever seen from any NFL team, ever.
They should be called the Dallas Dysfunctionals.

i agree with the Lewis interview as Rooney Rule ...

But rather than a HC candidate, more and more, i'm researching Marvin Lewis as a possible DC here.
-he ran a defense that eventually became dominant with Baltimore from 1996-2001, he ran a 4-3 scheme, and he had big power boys up the middle DT interior with Sam Adams and Tony Sirgusa.

maybe jerry can talk the eventual HC into hiring and combining with Lewis as the DC ?

Agreed. Their symbol shouldn't be the star, but a imploding building.

He would fit right in. This from Wikipedia:

"While credited with returning the Bengals to respectability, Lewis' reputation was affected by a lack of postseason success and he was ultimately unable to lead the team to a playoff win. His 131 regular season victories, 16 years as a head coach, and seven postseason losses are the most of NFL head coaches who have not won a playoff game.[2]"

He was always the comp for Garett before he was finally fired. A coach who somehow kept his job despite the fact that they disappointed for years.

So now, our owner has reached Mike Brown's level. That takes work.
