Mortensen: Source: Cowboys focused on proven NFL coach to replace Jason Garrett

Lewis doesn't check off both boxes so I'm not sure what to believe.

Hopefully just an assistant if anything.

I'm not ruling out a Jerry Jones 'double head coach combo' where he hires both McCarthy and Lewis and splits the team in half like he did when he brought Wade in. "You run this half and tha other guy runs his half."

And since McCarthy has a ring, he gets to handle all the PR stuff that Jerry doesn't have time for.

It's gonna take the league by storm!

Not sure if this is a 100% great thing. I still want a chance at Meyer or Riley. McCarthy or an OC/DC from another team seems pretty good though.
I am thinking a vet HC may be ok if we could get fresh coaches at OC and DC. Head coach can layout the game plan andt manage game while the coordinators can do their job

if this is the case give me Jim Harbaugh

What he did in San Fran was remarkable in such a short time, what a turnaround. The results were impressive too. Though why they kept running the same pass play on the last series to win it all in the Super Bowl was weird.

What's Switzer doing nowadays? I'm sure he's willing to pack up his guns and fly here.

yeah, all he had to do was have goofy qb run it in from pass formation.
this is where maybe you get kellen or another OC to be play caller.

Might as well accept it. We are getting someone for who Jerrah won't concede full power. Whoever it is, hopefully they get some say in who the assistants are.

Jimmy is still alive, I think...
JJ & JJ could be like that couple that gets married, then divorced about 3 or 4 times.

Pretty much sums up what most of us feared here.

McCarthy (I’m ok with), Lewis, Fisher. Next up will be John Fox

Typical Jerry, hiring a coach in training didn't work, so he is going to overcompensate and hire a retread.

McCarthy sounds like the only viable candidate if track record of success is a primary consideration............unless they can poach Sean Payton.

Last night jubilation in JG finally gone, sickness this morning hearing that Marvin Lewis is a real candidate

I think Marvin was the obligatory minority interview. If they want Marvin for anything it probably would be for DC.

would have to think this is rooney rule in play. nothing against lewis but he has done less than garrett when it comes right down to it.
Garrett had way better talent to work with and Lewis battled the Steelers and Ravens both Super Bowl winning teams.

and last week we were supposed to accept that garrett would be retained OR made GM.

wheee on the emotional doom and gloom.

makes me wonder if they already got an answer from Meyer and Riley.
