yup they were cheap and never wanted to bring in any FAs worth a flip.. they put it all on rggers and MM similar to whats happening to Brady and BB in NE..
this turnaround in GB is because of the draft but more so FA spending especially on defense..
rogers numbers were actually better under MM then they are this year,,hes not bad but his numbers dropped..
Everything you say is 100% true except GB under GM Ted Thompson was not cheap.
He was more than willing to pay, nay overpay, for players ... as long as he brought them into the NFL and they never soiled themselves by wearing the uniform of another NFL team.
To take but one example, GB was on the hook for an $11M dead cap hit this season for the long-forgotten Nick Perry -- a player who never amounted to much but whom Thompson signed to a lucrative second contract in order to double down on his ridiculous decision to draft him in the first round.
You can spend on your own players and still be stupid and that is what happened to McCarthy while Thompson was GM this decade in GB.
There is a reason Mac kept alluding to wanting to take part ("we") in building the Cowboys' roster.
