Funny...I think I would prefer the compensatory pick...
I think we all know how it’s going to end. Much like every negotiation in such Jerry is All In. We will pay the player what he wants. Really sound negotiation. Lol
I agree DE, he's head over heels in love with Prescott and was the moment he realized what they'd done picking a QB in the 4th and quietly thinking about the lack of embarrassment at giving up a 2nd and 3rd for Lynch or taking Cook. Prescott saved his bacon. It does not necessarily matter what anyone believes except what Prescott believes himself. Prescott is an intelligent young man and publicly says all the right things. However, his own opinion of his skills and potential *may be* greater than some of his critics believe. Prescott would not be the first professional athlete who over-inflated their value in retrospect of outside the evaluation of others.
I have been saying the bold in regard to Jones since November 2016 when it comes to Prescott. Could be totally wrong in the end but I do feel the final contract will make some people spit fire--while I will have seen it coming for years.
Not much love for average Dak in the comments.
And they were all considered top or close to the top at their position. When is the last time that happened? Tyrone Crawford?
Zeke's deal has more total dollars over the life of the deal but in reality it was less than the comparable deal with Gurley. It had a much lower signing bonus and salaries in the early years. Before that guys like DLaw, Martin and Dez got exactly the market rate of comparable players.
Jerry’s all about marketability much like with Romo, Dak is a product Jerry can sell.I agree DE, he's head over heels in love with Prescott and was the moment he realized what they'd done picking a QB in the 4th and quietly thinking about the lack of embarrassment at giving up a 2nd and 3rd for Lynch or taking Cook. And on the other side of this we have Dak Prescott, the enigma of the player and dilemma of what to do. I gotta say, I have never seen anything like him. And why wouldn't his confidence be high? That was instilled in him, not cockiness, true confidence that he could be as great as he would allow himself to be. If he wanted proof all he had to do was look at high school, college and NFL career. His confidence didn't serve him to take those jobs but they kept him form losing them. And I believe somewhere in this talk about money, value and worth is his Mom speaking to him, "do not sell yourself short".
So, like you, I never doubted they would extend him and a lot of posters and fans would be upset. I decided that I wouldn't be one of them regardless of what kind of a deal they construct because if I were in their place, just knowing what little I know, I am not sure I wouldn't do the same.
Fixed for yaDak is in a lose situation. Jerry just needs to cut his losses.
And they were all considered top or close to the top at their position.
So Jerry won't pay the players considered the top of their position "whatever they want" and didn't pay Dak whatever he wanted last season, but he will now?
Oh god, leverage??? what leverage?? playoff appearance, an 8-8 record..get out of here.Dak Prescott has unique leverage over the Cowboys
At a time when there's plenty of talk about players betting on themselves, Dak Prescott made one of the biggest self-bets in NFL history. And he has won. Prescott refused any and all long-ter...

Rivers is Romo with a pedigreeWant to test leverage? Use the transition tag on him and see what another team, willing to give up 2 1sts, would be willing to pay him.
In the meantime, I would be visiting with my new HC about other options, mainly in FA. Rivers would he high on my radar.
Other GM's have to be chuckling about the Joneses and their on going public love affair with Prescott. They spend so much time trying to sell that they don't realize what they're going to be buying. What a bunch of tools. I know, like father like son but this one is ridiculous.
The front office has done stupider thingsIt's not really leverage unless they think he'd really be a no show while a new offense is being installed. No QB would do that unless he wanted free of that franchise and he hasn't shown that.
No, holding out in any form is not leverage, it is the end to a career as the Cowboys QB and he knows he wouldn't have that 7M a year in endorsements if he didn't have that star on his helmet.
And from management's point of view, they cannot let it even approach that point because the image of the Cowboys QB is more important to them than any other team and he's a good story.
Neither side will let this get to any form of a hold out. Think about Prescott holding out until the regular season begins and just walking in to pick up paychecks not knowing anything about the new offense. Think the Joneses would let that happen, do that to their new coaching staff?

Nobody’s giving up 2 1st for Dak.Dak's "unique leverage" is not preparing for next season. Is that good for Dak? And how unique is it?
I'd be interested in the non-exclusive tag. Saves millions or gets us two firsts.
Have to agree with you here. It’s leverage cause frikin Jerry has no Plan B. And he’s always publicly promoting Daks our future. Cowboys have Zero leverage.
Go ahead, over pay the man Jethro and Son and move on. Lol
