Sheesh! I'm such a fath zlob. Need to drop some weight finally. I keep saying I'll get an exercise program going, then I come home from work and don't want to do it. There's a gym near where I work. I used to work out a bunch first thing in the morning on workout days. I was buff.

I don't believe in the body positivity crap. If you're fat, it sucks. Let's be honest. Not gonna pretend like it's this good thing. I weigh something like 800 pounds. I'm a humongous fath zlob. I'm like this bouncing, blubbery giant amoeba. So hopefully an exercise program will help, and I'll stop snorting like a pig and wolfing down extra large pizzas and an entire liter of Coke.

Okay, I'm not really 800 pounds. I'm exaggerating, but I could stand to take off some weight. I'm tired of this.

lol... It's got to be more than a wish. The larger you are the easier it is to lose weight. Educate yourself between carbs, sugars, Protein and starches. Between excersise, the time you have and your current job.

I was 221 @ 5'10 medium build.. The IBM scale is confusing as well because, it depends on mussel mass. Make small goals because most people go "New years resolution' all out and get tired of being hungry.

Also remember drink calories count as well and the body doesn't see them as being full...Your 2 liter coke would be about 915 calories and your body would say.."We gonna eat today?"..

what ever you are taking in now, start by deceasing by 500 calories a day for a while. General rule of thumb anything over 2,500 a day for slightly active folks and you will gain weight.

Never eat anything within 2 hours before bed.

I'm holding 178 right now and I don't go to the gym.

I'm 52 and yes age is also a factor... the older the less, so look at the young folks around you and tell them to enjoy now..

I did NutriSystem two years ago. When I started, I was 280 pounds of jiggling mass. I began going to the gym as well during that time. Two months in, I tore my labrum in my right shoulder, and went cardio heavy (an hour on the elliptical each day). I had a goal of losing 70 pounds, and I hoped to do it in six months. In four months time, I hit my goal. I then went to get below 200 pounds. Hit 199 after 5.5 months. I have largely kept it off since (I'm at 215 now, but am grinding to get back down to 205 - should be there by the end of March).

What NutriSystem taught was to eat smaller meals more times per day. I eat 6 times a day, with 3 meals, and three snacks, typically of fruit, vegetables or a protein shake. They also have you do a meal of your choice (breakfast, lunch and dinner) once per week to allow you to develop an exit plan. I stopped their plan in June of 2018, and haven't gone back. My weight went up a little, but my body fat percentage and energy levels remain high.

Whatever you do, make sure that it works for your lifestyle, stay as disciplined as possible, drink a boatload of water (helps keep you full, so you eat less), and exercise. Doesn't have to be crazy, walk on a treadmill or track for 30 minutes a day. Build up slow. It works. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. Not obese, but definitely could stand to lose a few pounds. I went from a very labor intensive career to a desk job, and my body has had a hard time adjusting to the change. I've considered converting to a standing desk.

I dropped about 25 pounds last year solely by not drinking beer, but fell off the wagon when my birthday came around and gained it all back. I'm thinking this summer I'm going to commit to a regimen of some sort because I know I will feel way better if I kill some of this weight.

Check out this book you can get on Amazon. “Younger Next Year”. It will change your life. The key to starting and continuing to exercise is find something you like. It doesn’t take running 5 miles a day or swimming 100 laps. The key with exercise is getting your heart rate up to your target heart rate and keeping it there for 45 minutes. I’m a former Marine so running was natural to me but you can do it with just a brisk walk. Now instead of running I ride my bike around the neighborhood. It’s a lot of fun so exercise is not a drudgery. Over time you will look forward to it. Diets don’t work. There are some folks who will swear by Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem but for the vast majority they don’t work.. Diets, in name, mean temporary and your mind will tell you it’s time to quit at some point. It hast to be a change of lifestyle. The book will guide you along slowly. It’s written by a Dr. and a lawyer and is easy to read. You’ll need to buy a heart rate monitor to monitor your heart rate but they’re relatively cheap. Good luck no matter which way you go. Just find something you enjoy.

I'd call in sick to work to get some extra workouts in.

No soda no sugar no easy carb ( bread pasta rice potatoes )
drink water water water

No fried food: any kind

This is exactly the wrong way to go about it as explained in the book I recommended. You can’t punish yourself and expect to be able to maintain. What you’re saying is pretty much torture. Moderation is the key.

Some people like the intermittent fasting. Start with just exercising during commercials and brisk walks. Work your way to the gym. Daily grind can suck. Be honest with yourself exercise 2 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Drink water, get enough sleep, and eat a salad for lunch with chicken at least 3 times a week. I stopped eating fries for two weeks then had some and my mind was blown. Decided I rather have them taste that good instead of meh from having them all the time. I gained 20 pounds in 2019 and went upa waste size. I’m down 7 pounds from that and does not feel like it lol. Ultimately I don’t care about weight just my body fat percentage. I’m at 25%. Trying to get to 20%. At 20% body fat with moderate exercise you’ll never get rip but you can have a drink from time to time.

you only lose weight (muscle or fat) with a calorie deficit. Shoot around 2k and you should be fine.

Getting a physical activity you enjoy is very good advice. That way it’s not “work”. It’s just having fun.

I too ride my bike when it’s spring/summer/early fall.

I also picked up playing pickleball twice a week and it’s good exercise. I love playing so I look forward to going to play, and don’t even think of it as exercise.

Brisk walks are good too. I like to listen to podcasts when I walk. Don’t even view the walk as exercise because I am busy enjoying the podcast.
