Not sure......think it depends, a chance to start, QB?? Olsen passed on the Skins and Bills for a chance to play with Wilson.
I think your right, Witten will be ring hunting hoping he can pull a DWare. I would like to see him show out with a great veteran QB...two old guys trying to get it done before father time drag em off the field

Just take him out back.

Old Yeller was loved.

It is hard watching the once great TE become old and slow. I remember the Witten of old catching the deep seam routes for 30+ yards. Now I cringe, as if I am witnessing the leaning tower of pisa being tumbled over in slow motion every 5 yard reception.

TE Coach, Lunda Wells, wants a TE highly capable of both blocking and receiving. We currently lack one to fill the bill. We'll maybe look to the draft.

Jason Witten had a great run while he lasted but it doesn't look as though the C'boys actually want him back as a starter. As a backup, who knows?

Giants would be the most likely landing spot if not on the Cowboys. If he's willing to embrace a backup role I would be glad to have him back. I could see a similar role that Antonio Gates played his last season where he played 1/3 of the offensive snaps and had 28 catches. Couple catches a game and blocker in short yardage situations. Perfect role if Witten is happy doing it. Would be hard to be angry about that as a fan.

I'm guessing he wants a guaranteed chance to compete for starting job. I think MIke would like to have him back but ONLY as a back-up.

He is a production stopper for guys like Jarwin. Thanks for the memories but Dallas needs to stop being nostalgic by giving contracts to guys based on what they did in the past.

Tell this selfish d-bag to kick rocks. Accept the fact that you and your pal Romo choked in your primes and move on.

Don't tell people this. Their illusions that Witten was some great teammate will be exposed. He is as selfish as they come. And he is a spare who only knows how to catch 4 yard outs these days. He sucks the life out of this offense and will block the development of any player behind him trying to prove themselves. Can't stand this dude.

I love the idea of Jason Witten as a #2 TE but it's just an idea that will never happen so I don't want him back.

Keeping Jarwin off the field for Witten makes us a less explosive offense which makes us a worse offense.

He can't block anymore and he isn't a threat past 8 yards.

He will be a New York Giant soon
They have a better pass receiving TE than Witten, he actually breaks tackles.

Witten's greatest attribute was the same as Emmitt's and it is vastly underrated, durability. They were like blocks of granite. I think as players Gronkowski and Olson are both better TE's but neither could come close to that durability part of it. You always knew he'd be there and you'd get his best every time he was there.

I don't know how he fits McC's offense or what the other options might be. Do they think Jarwin and Schultz can be the 1-2?

8 yards is being kind.

Jason's desire to play > doing the right thing for the team. This will hurt his value on the roster so much that he may have to be on some else's roster if starting is his priority. Bye Jason.

Time for the Cowboys to move on.

The 2nd TE needs to be a blocker. Neither Witten or Jarwin were high quality blockers in 2019.

If they carried 7 TEs on the roster like they carry 7 LBs, then it would be different. Witten has situational value as a receiver but he won't be happy as a 3rd TE and they need a high upside young player in the mix with Jarwin and a quality blocking TE.

He never could go up and get a ball or score esp against any good teams. You dont get hurt when youre just being blanketed and the D gives you what you get. Lmao.

I just hope they nix all of the ignorant 12 personnell passing formations and scale back on the 11 personell passing formation until we get a Stud Te WORTHY OF ALL THAT INVOLVEMENT ESP ON ALL THOSE 3RD AND LONG AND DO OR DIE PLAYS WHERE THEY CAME UP EMPTY HANDED EVERYTIME!!!

I HOPE HE DOESNT BREAK DEZS RECORD FOR TDS. IM 99.99% SURE HE'LL BE BACK AND DEZ DESERVES THAT TITLE IMO

GRONK DREW TRIPLE TEAM COVERAGE FROM TOP DEFENDERS AND GOT SMACKED EVERYTIME HE WENT AIRBORNE. #82 DREW LITTLE TO NO COVERAGE BECAUSE HE HAD NO SCORING ABILITY. HIS FLAT FOOTED CATCHING STYLE PROMOTES ALOT OF LONGEVITY!!! Comparing Witten to Gronk is an Embarrassment for COWBOY FANS!!! Its like comparing a lady finger to a STICK OF DYNOMITE!!!! A BUNCH OF OVERHYPED BLOCKS COMPARED TO A TD MACHINE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT.

LOL. Are we going to be held up at gunpoint for a second year by a middling, aging TE?
