I'm guessing he wants a guaranteed chance to compete for starting job. I think MIke would like to have him back but ONLY as a back-up.

Frankly I would not even want Witten as a backup.

So long as he is here in a uniform he will always be a threat to be a progress stopper,.. and constantly in the Ear of the coaches and management pushing for more and more time
and not wanting to get off the field. I admire his competitiveness and drive, but his legs and movement isn't where his heart is - and his limitations is killing this team, and his persistence would continue to hold this team hostage.

I hope McCarthy has enough courage and honest (and no sympathy interference from the Jones!) to tell Witten " thanks but no thanks, we really want to go in a different direction."

I've enjoyed Witten over the years but if he's not willing to hang 'em up let him try his luck elsewhere.

Frankly, I wish he would've stayed retired.

Maybe he's like Sampson?

Time for Witt to be tested...…..by the league.

TE Coach, Lunda Wells, wants a TE highly capable of both blocking and receiving. We currently lack one to fill the bill. We'll maybe look to the draft.

Jason Witten had a great run while he lasted but it doesn't look as though the C'boys actually want him back as a starter. As a backup, who knows?

If the Cowboys are smart they won’t let Witten back in the building in 2020. No upside. Lots of possible downside. The only voice the players need to be listening to is MM.

Love the guy. Need to move on. TE is top 3 pick this year.

It's time to move on fellows. Time to get younger. Like my buddy use to say about Tom Landry, he was still trotting out 2 tall and Harvey Martin and the giants was rolling a young LT and gang out there, trying to get the one last hurray out of them.

Jason Witten is one of my all time favorite Cowboys.

But it's time to let go and move on. Let him join the Giants. With Evan Engram they have way too much speed at tight end. (Just kidding.)
