2020 NFL strength of schedule: Cowboys, Ravens and Steelers have it easiest

"If you're looking for a team out of the NFC that could have a big 2020 season, don't be surprised if the Cowboys put together a solid year. In his first year as coach in Dallas, Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys will be facing an SOS of .459, which is the least difficult in the NFC. Basically, now might be a good time to jump on the Cowboys bandwagon, and the good news is, if you do jump on now, you'll be there before most actual Cowboys fans, who only jump on when the team is winning."

Problem is, this SOS rating is almost certainly because of the 4 games against the bumbling idiots in DC and Jersey. If they turn it around to even 8-8 level of competition then suddenly this schedule doesn’t look easy. The non-division games certainly don’t look easy to me.

Lol. Pats only had to play 3 teams with a winning record last season and lost to all 3. Sadly, they lost in the first round of the playoffs being they had to play a team with a winning record. So glad they won their division. BOOM!

Strength of schedule is the most meaningless stat in the NFL.

Never have agreed with this, but alot of people believe it. Shocker we seem to miss the playoffs when we have a tough schedule 19-17-15 and make it when we have soft ones 14-16-18, and with our schedule unless dak gets hurt, we are baked in to the playoffs. Also hear of Super Bowl hangover? They likely went from a 3rd of 4th place schedule to obviously a 1st.

True. We faced an LA, NO, and Phi team that was depleted.
There were numerous games where we had some sort of competitive advantage and I believe we pretty much blew all of them.

Baltimore and Pittsburgh have the easiest schedule because they play the NFC East.

This was only true and relevant when we had the hardest SOS because Goodell hates us and conspiracy theorists would use this as an example. Now once we’ve had some of the easies schedules it’s just noise

When 2 of the teams in your division finish 3-13 and 4-12 and the division winner is 9-7. And you play them twice it skews the w/l %
Anfd against the other divisions, through in your own 8-8 record, adds to it.

Do not be surprised it will be much tougher than this, when the season is over.

Even the 1st place schedule does not mean much at all anymore. The difference between us and the Eagles are the play GB and NO, we play Atlanta and Minnesota. Now on paper that may seem easier, and seems easier than normal. Not does not mean a lot. I have not looked to see who the Giants and Commanders play, but I think it is the same place teams from those divisions.
So Giants would get Chicago and TB, and the Commanders get Detroit and Carolina. If I remember that correctly.

To me it is not the opponents each year, it is how the schedule is laid out that can make a big difference.
Ww know we will ge t a road game before T-Day game, a road game the Thursday after the T-day game, as the pattern has been that. And we will get 2 more cold weather road games in December. We always finish with more road games than home games to finish the season. Or so it seems. I would need to look it up to verify it.

That and getting to face the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers as 3 of the OOC games makes it TECHNICALLY the softest conference of all.

The rub though is the Steelers won't be starting a 3rd or 4th string QB, the Browns have a real coach, and the Bengals.... well ya they stink so while SoS says 3-1 against AFC North I would bet on 2-2 being more likely.
