I dunno who that damn play by play announcer for ESPN Monday Night is ... but he's the one that's been Tuuuuurrible !!!

His voice is slow and dragging, he's boring, uninspiring and he doesn't bring any intrigue to the game, and most annoying is .. he'll go seconds with " dead-air " and not saying anything at all.... at one point I thought I must have accidentally pushed the Mute button on my TV remote as I don't hear anything coming from the play announcer. And that ruins the tempo and tone to me.

The all-time biggest gaffe in Monday Night Football history was adding Dennis Miller to the broadcasting booth in an attempt to add some humor. What was hilarious was how bad it worked out. In my opinion the all-time worst Monday Night Football crew was Joe Theismann, Mike “holy cow” Patrick and Paul Maguire. All Maguire and Theismann ever did was bicker with each other, while Patrick acted like every good play was the immaculate reception.....HOLY COW!!!!!

I'll still mute it. It's kind of hard listening to someone for 3 hrs with a Louisiana accent.....no offense.

I still vote Joe Namath as to rank among the very worst MNF additions all time ever .... just flat didn't know WTH he was talking about !! LOL .
Became even funny when as a side line guest he was stone staggering drunk and vocally flirted with wanting to kiss a MNF spokeswoman on the sideline .... " I wanna KISS you !! " :lmao2:

They ought to start looking for Michaels replacement, he's been showing his age the last couple years..seems a couple times a game he just doesn't see something going on during a play or is late to see it and Collingsworth jumps in first.

Unless the NFL stops treating MNF like the trash heap when they make up their schedules, I don't see what this accomplishes.

Am I going to tune into a bad matchup on Monday Nights just to catch the sparkling wit and personality of these two guys as they call a bad game between bad teams? No. So even if Peyton isn't the dumpster fire Witten was, and even with the golden vocal chords of Al Michaels, who cares?

Monday Night football is a mess because the NFL made the intentionally decision to tank the program in favor of propping up the Sunday Night showcase. It wasn't bad because of Gruden and Jaworski any more than it is possible for it to magically be good because of Al Michaels and whichever safe, popular name they pair him with.
The schedule was actually not that bad last year. It wasn’t Sunday Night obviously but it was much improved. I remember it actually stood out to me because traditionally the matchups have been so terrible (same with Thursday).

ESPN is desperate. Instead of looking for better announcers they should try to schedule better matchups like on Sunday night.

It’s probably time to bury MNF. It’s really not needed anymore.

We aren’t yearning for more football on Monday after all day on Sunday.

I couldn't disagree more.....I want my Monday Night Football....I just ESPN to have nothing to do with it.

America is too busy for MNF this generation. SNF fulfills their need.

In the beginning we only had 2 afternoon games on Sunday and America yearned for more.

If ESPN can’t afford to carry the lowering viewership it will fade.

It can’t attract enough for Networks to pay NFL price and why ABC walked away. Maybe TNT will pick it up if NFL drops the price.

People have quit watching because ESPN butchers the broadcast. Mcfarland is an idiot...And ESPN just has to get on their soapbox and preach what 90% doesn't want to hear....that's the problem.

Seriously...with todays technology...there is no excuse for them to be missing plays. How many times do they show a review....only to miss the next play...and your left wondering what the hell happened?...happens alot.

Honestly...the NFL Network should just take over and be done w/ it.

The ratings were dropping with ABC.

MNF is dead cause they have crap match-ups - I dont care who they get to announce the games.

Crap games - crap ratings...
They don't plan for the matchup to be duds, you know. But yes, sometimes it does turn out that way. It's just a luck of the draw. It's hard to predict months ahead of time which games will be in demand the most. They can't always have the most popular teams play on Monday. My advice is to have a fantasy football team so that no matter who is playing on Monday you have some skin in the game.

But it is good of them to bring us better talent calling the game. Peyton Manning would be an upgrade over Cris Collinsworth.
