Randy is just the kind of reliable steady proven guy to build a team around. I think we should rely on him for big things this season.

If the Cowboys go into the season counting on Randy Gregory, they are setting themselves up for failure.

He should be viewed as a guy whose contributions would be considered gravy, not the prime course.

If Gregory has truly been working out and no longer has to worry about the pot issue, then I am not so sure about your claim. I too was doubtful.

But if Gregory is in shape, then there is no reason why he wont play all season long. The Cowboys would be crazy to go out and sign a high priced FA or waste a #1 pick on a DE.

Defense loses it’s 2 most productive players from last season in Quinn & Byron Jones. Going to be tough replacing either let alone both.

Nonsense. Give me Gregory over Quinn and I will take a first round pick CB for cheap over Jones.

Anyone who doesn't think that Randy's next big excuse isn't just around the corner you just wait and see. Dude is a turd. He is gonna try to get in position to sign a big deal and he will disappear forever. How about lets go out and find a real football player who loves the game and wants to win instead. You know kind of similar to the Patriots.

I'm taking it one step at a time with Gregory, 6 sacks in a "break-out season" awhile back isn't that impressive.
Why is everyone SO enamored by sacks? I just don’t get it. This isn’t the 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s. This is a passing league now and its so much easier to ‘recover’ from a sack now than it once was. Take Robert Quinn for example, he was SO bad against the run that towards the end of the season they wouldn’t even put him on the field on ‘rushing downs’. The Bears are flat out stupid for giving him that contract. I’m so glad that guy is gone.

I would love to see Gregory back, but until I see him on the field, there's no way I'm penciling him as a starter or even a contributor.

I just read a article about gregory
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...future-in-nfl-ill-be-back-for-good-this-time/

I have a new found respect for him. How he has stayed in shape and something that just opened my eyes about him.

This articles key points for me and why i think this team is going to end up going with him over any FA or drafted guy.

1. He has never been in trouble with the law, for his marijuana use or for anything else.
2. He's stayed in great shape apparently, and has even took up boxing to improve his hand use so hes not just sitting around moping but training anyway he can.
3. He has taken accountability, he says he knew he probably wouldnt have been reinstated until the deal was done. But says if he was able to vote on the CBA he wouldve voted no because he wasnt willing to harm the future of every other nfl player to better his own.

That says alot of this guys character. I think there is alot to this guy that we dont know. I think this is why Jerry has taken care of him the way he has. Last yr i read another article written about him and what hes gone through and he was harder on himself then even Goodell.

If he can get back on the field fast i think the NFL better watch out. When he came back from sus in 2018 he was alot more refined. I think this time he will be make another jump. The way he talks you can just tell he wants to get back on the field so bad. IM rooting for him, and cant wait to see him back

Former one time great Too Tall Jones took a year off to box and he said it helped his hand speed but back then head slaps were still legal and are no longer legal today. Whatever the reason Gregory chose to violate an NFL rule, he did choose to violate an NFL rule, repeated times, so I will ALWAYS question that he will at a moments notice decide to violate another NFL rule and get suspended again. Now I'm not saying smoking some weed again because they can't get suspended for that anymore but there other things that players can get suspended for and he's already proved that NFL rules aren't much of a reason to not do things.

Everyone deserves a second chance but he used up 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances and for that reason alone I find it very hard to have any respect for this player . With the exception of some family problem teams need players that put football and ALL of their rules at the forefront. Teams can't afford to have players that think they can pick and chose what rules they will follow.

As soon as he set on the field he is already the 2nd best if not on ability alone the pass rusher on the team and h plays the run unlike Quinn

Yeah he was worse.
I met and spoke w Haley a bit in Cincinnati airport in 94. He did not fly home w the team but I didn't ask why.

He was cordial to myself and the other few fans around him, but was out there kind of. Almost disturbed.

Haley did malicious things like urinating on Tim Harris' car...which I kick myself for not asking him about.

Gregory is simply a pothead, which tells you a bunch about him....choosing that over what others counted on him for, but if it's now legal...go ahead son...oh and go tackle that man with the ball while you're at it.

Do you even know his story?

Yes. He chose to smoke weed that at the time was a violation of NFL rules. He chose to smoke weed instead of using PRESCRIBED medications by a licensed physician. Don't say that a doctor could have prescribe the weed because NO doctor can prescribe anything that is an illegal substance in that state. Yes there are and were states that allow weed for medical purposes but Texas wasn't one of them.
