Brett Favre threw tons of interceptions that lost games.
But he hit receivers when it mattered also.
That's the problem with Dak, too many times when they needed a great throw to extend a drive, or score a td, or get within easy (relatively) field goal range, he didn't do it. He has to get better at that.
Though in truth we saw that from Romo as well, and Danny White before that. Aikman threw several ints in the 1994 playoff loss to SF, putting the Cowboys too far behind.
No quarterback is perfect, and as noted there were lots of drops by receivers as well as Dak throws that were way off, even with receivers wide open. The problem is that nobody knows if some other veteran quarterback, or draftee, on this team, can do better. It's easy to see Brees hitting 75% of his throws and say "why can't Dak do that", forgetting he's got a master offensive mind designing plays, which Dak never had. Aikman has credited Norv Turner with his development into a 3 time SB winning quarterback, who has Dak had?
If not for Turner, would Aikman and the Cowboys turned out as well as they did? And remember the Cowboys had the number one defense in the league most of their first SB winning season, Dak has never had that. Neither did Romo or White.
I'm just saying that we know what we have in Dak, and with players like T. Smith, etc. getting near the end of their careers, and with LVE's neck uncertainty, and a huge number of free agents coming in 2021, it makes sense to lock Dak in for a few years and have stability at that position, and build the defense up.
Sure you always would like to get better, but now's not the time for uncertainty at the most important position on an NFL team.
