You don't even get that you don't get it.
Naw, you were so busy choosing sides that you missed both humor and a message.

Ever been around and shared menus on site on Game Day?

Easy solution here, Son...Ignore.

I read over and over and over some of the posts that some of you people have to say regarding "our" Dallas Cowboys. You claim to be fans but yet I see comments like: nothing will change; it's been 25 years and I expect the same; not with Dak Prescott; I'll believe it when I see it; and I could go on. It's generally the same one who just come here to throw trash around and name call.

We have every reason to believe that this year will be different!
1) We have a real HC... the best we've had since Parcells
2) We have an entirely new coaching staff from top to bottom hand picked by our new HC sans KM
3) We have a QB that is going into his fifth year that threw for almost 5000 yds and just 11 ints with a 65% comp %
4) We have HC that kept KM to put their heads together to design a new offensive scheme
5) We have 2 new DT with some bulk to stop the run and good rotation of players on the DLine.
6) We have a very good RB that if he's in shape for the season could be like he was drafted
7) We have a new Special Teams Coach - We have 2 new kickers that we can count on so we will see which one sticks something that probably cost us at least 3 games last year.
8) We have the draft and the second wave of FA to add some quality if not outstanding additions.
9) Yes we have some issues on the OLine to straighten out but I believe that MM won't let us go into the season w/o that being addressed.

In closing I'm gonna go out on a limb here and not project a SB win but I believe we will make the playoffs and contend for the NFCC.

Go ahead and trash away!
I'm not gonna pull the football away this time Charlie Brown. Go ahead and kick away (oh and buy a jersey also please) !!!!!

What's the saying? Fool me once, shame on you.....what's the punch line for 25 times PLUS??

If your definition of what this place ought to be is constant sunshine pumping, you'll find your share of friends.

I'm hopeful just like you are. We all are. That's all we have. Doesnt mean we cant speak the truth slash vent when needed.

Enjoy...

Results being me joy, the Cowboys have fallen well short of that for over my life.

Come find me in a live game thread after we go down by a TD in the 1st quarter and half these self proclaimed “positive” fans who talk about how much joy they get from watching the Cowboys suffer from the same mediocrity every year are about ready to jump off a cliff while I’m laughing because I set my expectations much lower.
Ok so stay away until there’s joy if there’s none for you now lol. But hey if all negative gets you goin more power to ya

I've lived in Dallas my entire life. I have no choice but to root for the Cowboys on game day. It hurts when they lose.

That does not mean I ignore reality.

The tone of these "optimistic" fans seems identical to the offseason when we had no good wide receivers and hired Sanjay Lal as the WR coach. Oh the coach will fix everything. No rhyme or reason. Just pray and hope.

This is a 8-8 team that lost Robert Quinn, Byron Jones, Travis Frederick, and Randall Cobb. It added McCoy and Poe (and maybe Gregory). Right now, they are clearly less talented than they were last year.

Analogy.
I've been dating the same female for 25 years. We've never made love.

Now do yall understand the angst. Love turns to anger when things aren't going right. And angry people use angry words. Some fans hate that we aren't in contention every year and they come here to vent.
One of you is....never mind.

It’s not so much no joy as just not expecting a lot. If I tell myself I’m going to won the lottery, keep buying tickets and keep losing then eventually I’ll become disappointed, especially if I did it for 25 years and lost more than I ever made.

On the other hand, if I play knowing I can win but most likely won’t then the disappointment is extremely minimized if existent at all.

See how that works? I don’t have to stay away, just don’t expect anything and it’s that much harder to be disappointed.

Didn't our receiving group have one of its better years in recent memory?

And you forgot to mention they lost Jason Garrett.......losing Garrett gained them about 3 wins.

Whatever floats your boat, just hard to have substantive discussion when people are super negative or super positive. Facts are there are good things rolling in our favor as well as challenges, when a person is all the way in one direction or another you can’t really have any real conversation.

You sounds like you’ve made your approach more measured than your previous posts, it sounds more now like you have no expectations where before you were pessimistic. Obviously the former is a normal way to go about viewership. Again, it’s those who feel we have no shot and see no positives that I believe the OP is referring to.

It’s been 25 years since the Cowboys have had any real success. This is a frustrated, disgruntled fan base and it’s obvious the team is coming off a disappointing season. C’mon what do some of you expect after a disappointing season? Boards like this reflect the state of your team. The majority of the fans on this board weren’t even around when the Cowboys won their last Super Bowl. What we’ve been seeing the past two plus decades is all they know. I’ve been around long enough to have seen the Cowboys finish at the very top 5 times and at the very bottom twice. I’ve seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows with this organization. I learned in the late 80s and early 90s that things can change.

I saw as it happened the Cowboys go from one of the top 10 worst teams ever assembled in 1989 to one of the top 10 best teams ever assembled in 1992. No matter how discouraging things look you always have to hold onto some hope. Let’s face it, none of us would be here posting or reading this forum if we’ve given up on the team and didn’t care. Moaning, groaning, complaining and criticizing means we do care. It means we’re continuing to hold out hope that somehow next season will be the beginning of something special. I laugh at the fans who proclaim they’re DONE with the team immediately after a disappointing season, only to return around April when the draft is approaching. lol

I used to think all I had to do was outlive Jerry.

You all see all those kids in the box during the game?

That little punk everyone calls Spalding (which is genius)....we will be here moaning about one day.

Our best days may very well be behind us, and it could get into the 50 and 60 year futility range before the owners of the team weren't raised to think they are the best people to run it.

Keep buying that merchandise.

losing Jason Witten is a few wins also. Both Jasons are gone TG. ALL WE HAVE IS A BUNCH OF COMPLETIONS AND YARDS BUT NO POINTS OR WINS AGAINST GOOD TEAMS. LOL

As fans we have the right to cheer/jeer the cowboys as we see fit. Things sucked for years under gm Jerry. His record is etched in stone. But I think the last few years things have improved since will mcclay and Stephen have taken control of personnel and contracts. Many disagree which is understandable. But imo, their differences only make discussion more interesting. Spring Turkey season is upon us. Purrs, clicks, and gobbles.

For some the joy of being a fan is being able to complain and/or turning it all into a soap opera. Of course, there also are some that are overly optimistic, but they are easier to take than ones that play Debbie Downer every day. In the end, it is possible to be realistic and understand flaws without determining everything is terrible and irreparable. People that take extreme views are often the most vocal, but are clearly the least rational.

The only time I ever said things weren’t going to change is when Garrett was here and things never did change. We’ll just have to see if things change under McCarthy. It’s going to be tough for things to change with the situation we’re all dealing with right now. It’s not likely they’ll be any OTA’s and training camp could be reduced if there is a training camp. This is going to make it tough for a new head coach to implement their system and to become familiar with their players and prepare the team.
