Did Dallas have an interview with him? I thought I read they did. If so, I could see them grabbing him in 4.....LITERALLY the only player in the draft with pro experience (saw him in person in the XFL - kid can play).
Good question.
Kenny Robinson
6'1-1/2", 205 (no official pre-draft measurable(s). Info likely came from the XFL)
Robinson was an ascending college player at West Virginia.
Note: There have been 30 players drafted from West Virginia in the past 10 years.
Robinson started 8 games as true freshman. He played both CB and Safety that season.
In his 2nd college season he was a full time starter at Safety and was named 1st team All Big 12.
He had 3 INTs as a freshman with 2 returned for TDs.
He had 4 INTs as a Sophomore.
He was dismissed from the team after his Sophomore season (dismissed June 2019) because it was determined that a girl had done one of his academic assignments.
- He did come out and say "
Yes, I cheated. I own that"
He had multiple offers from other colleges but his family was having financial difficulties due to his mother having two strokes with the past year. He opted to go to the XFL.
My Analysis:
I watched 2 full college games plus 1 XFL game.
If all college players were compared based on only their freshman and sophomore seasons in college, Robinson would likely be highly rated considering many prospects were not starters their freshmen/sophomore seasons.
He played primarily as the deep Safety in the college games.
- In 2 games he was not directly responsible for any completions allowed.
- He missed a large number of tackles in each game.
- He will put bit hits on ball carriers but his tackling technique is poor.
- His speed looked solid. Not the fastest guy on the field or anything, but solid.
XFL:
I can't really make much out of reviewing the XFL game.
He looked solid in coverage.
He put a big shoulder hit on a ball carrier in the open field and the player bounced off and scored a TD.
