My ideal scenario is McGovern & Biadasz winning starting jobs out of camp. Here are their sizes:

6'5" 310 (McGovern)
6'4" 315 (Biadasz)

I will admit Connor Williams has become the new whipping boy now that Heath is gone. But what surprised me is Williams size of 6'5" 320 as he appears to play so much smaller. If I wasn't told Williams size and just watched film I would guess he is 6'2" 305.

Williams has on OT frame. He was alot better in 2019 than people realize. He had some penalties that jumped out and stuck in peoples. However he wasnt good enough to be a sure bet to beat McGovern who is a more natural OG. We also dont know where Williams will be with his knee, and that could have a huge impact

I think Williams will eventually be a “hit” instead of a miss, but I think he is better suited to OT than G. I think there is a pretty good chance that he is the swing tackle and ends up taking Tyron’s spot at some point.

Connor Williams was very good in 2019. He was not in peak form until about game 4, but from game 4 up until his injury he played really really well.

He was excellent in picking up and handing off pass rushers on stunts and blitzes.

He was excellent at 2nd level blocking.

He didn't make many mistakes after about the first 3 games.

Fans want to see Larry Allen power blocking but in the modern NFL power blocking has become less important than precision blocking.
- For example, when La'el played LG, he was very powerful, but he made way too many mistake and was not technically sound.
- CW in 2019 was at LG than La'el was when he played that position.

Broadcast game footage is not "film". It's only "film" if you pay for the coaches film.

CW likely played at about 310. Young players that have bulked up since college often lose some weight during the season.

You really are not paying attention if you think CW looks like he is 6-2.

If he ends up replacing Smith at LT then he turns into one of Dallas best 3rd round picks.

I would like to see Tyron stay healthy and get 3 more years out of him, but that’s not a certainty. He has been pretty dinged up and he has a lot of wear and tear on him.

Tyron has shown some chinks in the armor (with injuries) so hope this is an applicable plan so we don't have to draft a new LT in the first few rounds in the coming years.

Yes. It would be fine if we extended Williams at a longer term deal and then he ended up taking over for Tyron for a cheap cost.

Williams does look a lot smaller than his published measurements. I think he did a good job in 2019, but I think LG could be better. Williams does okay in pass protection but as a run bl;ocker, he was better on the move than powering straight ahead. He struggles against big powerful DTs. In 2019, I don't think he was the problem though. Frederick was clearly not himself. But this is my concern. They have Williams and now a new center playing next to him. I don't think its going to be Baidasz right away. I think he needs a year to learn and improve. The problem is the Cowboys face 3 teams in their division who are very strong at DT. They cannot be weakest in the middle of their OL.

Those measurable are padded to make him look good and if he is that weight it’s not good weight it’s fat and has slowed his weak body even more.

Issac Garcia is hidden gem that will be starting LG he has natural size 6’-6” 320 lbs and strength that Connor Williams will never have no matter how much he goes into the weight room.

Williams was seriously misused by the last staff.

Not everyone can just switch to guard after being a tackle forever. He was probably better than he got credit for though.

Wouldnt count on Biadasz winning a job this year. Not strong enough. Looney will easily beat him out.

I feel the same way. I think this is his year. I wonder if Tyron was to retire what route would they go? Slid Collins to left tackle or Connor Williams to left tackle?

I proposed that question in a thread months ago.

Mostly got blasted that Tyron doesnt miss games and isnt done. Totally missed the point.

Still no idea as to if Collins can play LT. I would guess Williams would be the first option there.

I don't think it would have to do anything regarding strength with Biadasz vs Looney. I think it would have more to do with making the line calls and understanding defensive fronts to make the proper adjustments before the snap of the ball.

I would check the accuracy of that scale if Williams weighed 320. I didn't see it. Sort of like me walking into a 7-11 and thinking wow, I am almost 6 ft tall according to the ruler on the door. Or like when I stand next to my Walmart 6 foot Christmas tree and wonder how did I grow to be 6 feet tall.
