Good luck to Aldon Jones! I'm neither confident he'll find success, nor convinced he won't. Mainly just glad to see that the NFL has cut back on their heavy-handed ways! Now, let's see if they'll also follow through by doing the same for Randy Gregory. It would seem what's fair for one should also be true for the other. In any event, it's been a long time coming! I suppose you could say "the quality of mercy cometh like a cleansing rain!" ;)

I’m excited he’s back. I have hope he’ll be solid.

But I’m gonna be more excited if Gregory is reinstated.
I’m more excited about Aldon than Gregory. Gregory may not get reinstated at all.

I said a few weeks ago I thought Smith would be reinstated before Gregory. He’s had to wait a lot longer. I wouldn’t be holding my breath on Gregory being reinstated.

and did less

He did less but he’s been given a lot of chances. Every time he’s reinstated he falls right back off the wagon. It’s not like the suspensions have taught him a lesson. Smith had to wait a long time to be given a second chance. Gregory was given a second chance and screwed that up.

while i am happy he is reinstated for our team, the guy did some bad stuff so lets not act like hes a choir boy....if he has turned his life around and is on a different path than great, we should all get behind him.

however, i would be very surprised if he is able to beat out any of the young guys for a spot on the team...sure hes still young by normal standards but hes over the hill in nfl terms and has been out of the league 5 years....that's an eternity.

hope, but be reasonable....chances are very slim like 5% that this guy does anything worthwhile for the cowboys.

I'm on that other side actually. I have higher hopes for Smith.

Me too.

1) Proven talent level.

2) Low tread.

3) Has developed physically.

4) No longer diminished by alcohol dependency.

The possible negatives are:

1) It is hard for addicts not to be drawn back into their addictions.

2) And just because he's developed and isn't worn down doesn't mean he can overcome such a long layoff.

Smith, 31 in September, is now eligible to participate in all team activities immediately. Reportedly weighing in at 287 pounds (up from 265) after training with NFL insider Jay Glazer throughout the offseason, it's still a concern that Smith hasn't taken the field since 2015. There's really no telling what to expect from Smith during his one-year comeback contract in Dallas.

They probably said “yes” to Smith because they think he won’t make much difference! Plus, it’ll lessen the protest intensity when they say “no” to Gregory...,

No! Only Aldon Smith allowed back in the league. Mara worked out a compromise with Goodell in exchange for all the red jelly beans Mara was stuck with because COVID ruined his Easter.

This is very good news and another potentially great move by Big Mike!

Lets look at this objectively for a second. If Aldon does come back and plays out of his mind can you imagine how deadly our pass rush can be?

This news alone should at least give us reason to have some hope!

I wouldn't get my hopes up with Randy Gregory though because the guy is a prolific cannabis user so there is a good chance he just doesn't have
the motivation.

Mara and Goodell are friends? What will you conspiracy nuts come up with next?
