I notice he didn't address Nolan's unimpressive resume and track record..

OK, first do you really think that is something Ware would get into? Come on.

Second, save for Atlanta, he's improved the defense in each of his stints (which became worse after he left) & has had a top ten defense every year.

Now, I'll agree that his most recent stop is concerning.

What excites me about it, especially if Aldon Smith proves to be ready at 280 pounds, is the flexibility on a given play. We could line up in the 4-3 with A. Smith, Poe, McCoy and Lawrence on the line and Lee, LVE and J. Smith at linebackers, then shift into a 3-4 with A. Smith, Poe and McCoy on the line and Lawrence and J. Smith at outside linebacker. Out of that formation, we could rush five, drop J. Smith or Lawrence into a zone and rush four or even drop A. Smith into a zone and rush four. It would hard to predict initially where the pressure is going to come from. Some of that also could be done with Crawford in place of Smith since Crawford is possibly at better 3-4 DE (but not better at 4-3 RDE).

Of course, the key is whether Lawrence can be effective enough in coverage so that the offense has to respect that he could drop back into a short zone.

Far more impressive resume then I initially thought. Interesting.
