What is your minimum goal for the Cowboys this season?

This season I'd just like to see signs of life from the defense and the possibility that McCarthy can do something with Dak. With all the extenuating circumstances it would be understandable if there were growing pains this year, just a playoff appearance is completely reasonable,,, but next year is different, coaches and QBs get fired for just making the playoffs, it's got to be contention. ie. appearances in the NFC championship.

My belief is they are about the 5th best team in the NFC, but that opinion is subject to change as we see them perform on the field. I don't think the 4 above them (GB, SEA, SF & NO) are dramatically ahead of them, so my hope is they can get at least to the NFC championship game.

A winning season would be encouraging, however, the greedy side wants the NFCCG.

I think they will win 7 games. Prefer they do more but I doubt it untill i can see how they play in real games. Training camp and practice mean nothing.

One thing in favor of those wanting a winning season, the last 3 coaching changes netted a better season the first full year of that HC.

The question is with already a strange season underway, how does that affect a coaching change and installation of a new offense and defense? I would expect a team with consistency like NO, SF, MIN, PHL and SEA to fare better than the teams making changes.

I also think any abbreviation of the season favors the teams with the better D's. We might get surprised with the Skins. The times I saw them play, they were not a bad team, they've got some talent.

My minimum goal? Make me glad I watched. Play with heart and effort. Don't embarrass me.
You shouldn't be embarrassed by them anymore than teams like CLE, CIN and DET have been embarrassing their fans. I would only be embarrassed if I had something to do with their failure.

Even when that team quit on Phillips, I was embarrassed for them, not myself. My fanhood spans 7 decades. I am never just a fan of any specific team and at times, they've had teams that I didn't like, those quitters for one. I am a laundry fan, I can't be embarrassed.

Everything is going to come down which teams handle this virtual offseason the best. Teams that are making a lot of changes and have new head coaches are going to be at a disadvantage. McCarthy said he hasn’t even been able to meet with the entire team virtually yet due to some technical issues. Not only are we not having OTA’s, mini camps or a rookie camp but training camp may not be normal. You have to figure a number of players are not going to be in very good shape by the time they show up for training camp. This will likely lead to more injuries than usual. Vets are going to have to play more in preseason which could lead to even more injuries. You can’t just save players for the regular season and turn them loose then with the lack of on the field work this entire offseason. Soft tissue injuries are always a concern and every team is likely to see a large number of soft tissue injuries. Staying healthy is always a key to how successful your season is. Dak’s contract situation that appears to be keeping him away from this virtual offseason isn’t helping matters any.

Difficult season to predict. Lot of change. On paper, for the better.

Offense should be among the very best. Defense should be improved.

Not making the playoffs, barring any catastrophic injury losses, would be a big letdown.

I'm with you, but one less win. And cue the OP and/or all the other majority homers attacking my opinion and zero reprisal as I'm not a class favorite. Lol, :)

Same with the giants. I hear they have this new offensive coordinator. And o-line coach. Lol

The question was in regards your minimum goal they had to achieve. And you get people answering what their maximum goal would be or how far they can should go.

Cant follow simple instructions.

Some people don't structure goals that way. You're assuming everyone has layered goals in that sense.

Honestly, if we're not going for everything, I'd just as soon get the best pick available in the next draft - #1...

Well I think it is a toss up game with NO and Sea, and then GB and rodgers seems to always beat dallas, but that was a JG dallas, and
SF is right now the best team in NFC and dallas has not played them.
So mainly I see SF as the only big hurdle, and GB is a hurdle, but with MM they should be able to beat GB.

I think we still have to view all of them as hurdles, but I agree they aren't insurmountable. I don't even think SF is insurmountable, I wouldn't be surprised if they take a step or two back like the Rams did last year.
