I dont even really want the guy here anymore.

As far as I'm concerned he has one foot out the door already.. .and the other is on a banana peel.

The Dalton to DiNucci plan cant produce any less NFC title appearances than the great #4 has lead us to lately.

Let him go to Jacksonville and wonder why Gatorade isnt calling.

The thing is, Goff and Wentz, deals were extensions. They are contracted for 5 or 6 years. Dak has no contract to extend.
Yeah there is no spreading the money out. It’s a straight deal. That’s why they want 5 years this time. They can extend Dak after 4 years and have the 5th year to spread his next contract.

We would have heard rumors and whispers by now if they were going to hammer this out. He is definitely playing on the tag and I wouldn’t be shocked if this is his last year here

Dak can make $68 million on the tag for two years then be a free agent still in his 20s. He has no reason to cave.

If all he cares about is the size of his contract then you're right. But if he cares about being the most visible player in sports and reaping all the benefits that come with being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, if he cares at all about winning and his legacy I think he has lots of reason to "cave." We're 1.5 hours away and by not signing I think Dak is saying he's fine playing elsewhere, which is his prerogative. I just can't believe he can find anywhere else what he already has, that he'd really be ok walking away from Mike McCarthy, a loaded offense and a locker room full of teammates ready to run through a brick wall for him, and the rest of his situation in Dallas.

I think Dak will sign a long term deal today just ahead of the deadline.
I expect it will be for 5 years with an AAV of 36M. 180M
110M GTD.
Cowboys option on year 5.
Same bonus structure as Pat. 1.25M for each SB appearance and 1.25M for any MVP awards.
Tag, Dak is it! No long term deal.

Why would he sign that?

How is this Jerry's fault? Unless you are saying they didn't even try, which would be incorrect. For once the FO did their job and didn't cave. They should get a gold star for this.. they caved on Zeke and on DLaw.. glad someone over there is growing a pair. Dak is the one who turned down 100 + million dollars to play a kids game..

We don't know what offers were made/countered/rejected. No one's greedier than Jerry Jones. Please. Jones's archaic commitment to negotiations gets in the way of the team. Doing things the Commanders way is the wrong way, which is what they just did. Why bother franchising him.

Because Dak will only get more expensive and there isn't anyone on the roster that's better than Dak. Dalton isn't. DeNucci isn't (they're not striking Undrafted Free Agent Gold twice in two decades). So unless they tank for Lawrence, what are they even doing at QB1 for 2021 and beyond?
