This season is going to confirm a lot of opinions and dispel a lot of opinions. The Cowboys play the Giants twice this season as usual. If the Giants win just one of those games with an impressive offensive showing then this forum is going o blow up.

McCarthy's honeymoon is over in a few weeks, A former SB winning coach hired for a talented but underperforming team doesn't get a grace period. I'm not saying this out of my own feelings on the subject, If the Cowboys start out 1-3, it's over before it began. Sports media and social media will eat him alive..

and we will see the Garrett lovers like Idgit, dre11, and diehard come out with glee to defend their hero Garrett.

Despite the fact that since his firing they now claim they never thought he was a good coach.:lmao::lmao2::lmao2::lmao:

Going back and forth on the offense and defense is one argument.

I think we can all agree the special teams was ABHORRENT all season long. A good special teams unit probably gets Dallas another win or two on the season.

Even in this Vikings game. The special teams killed the cowboys. Killed them. In multiple ways. How do you fair catch that last Vikings punt?

garrett told him to do that. Lol

daks fault!!

Just stop it already
You were a top blind Garrett apologist despite 10 years of proven garbage and McCarthy only gets 4 games?

Cowboys fans are so used to having defenses that are awful at forcing turnovers, that they don’t even bring it up when discussing defensive stats anymore.

the cowboys defense was tied for 6th WORST in the league last year at forcing turnovers.

It’s arguably the second most important star behind points given up per drive. And the cowboys defense was AWFUL at forcing turnovers.

as a matter of fact. Not a single team as bad as the cowboys at forcing turnovers, made the playoffs last year.

coincidence?

Turnover differential is still one of the most significant factors in wins or losses.

even in this Vikings game. The cowboys committed one turnover. A Prescott interception. Committing one turnover in a game isn’t bad. As a matter of fact. The cowboys were 9th in fewest giveaways last season.

But the defense couldn’t force a single turnover in that Vikings game. Not one. So the cowboys lost the turnover battle, despite only coughing the ball up once themselves.

One of the worst teams at forcing turnovers. Worst special teams. And people really want to argue about why the team was 8-8 and couldn’t beat playoff teams.

amazing how when dak throws a pick the loss is his fault. But the trolls don’t think defensive turnovers matter. :muttley:

You are so right. Except for maybe Cleveland, those defenses are average at best. We should be scoring 30 plus in those games.
Agreed. I would love to see us get out to a quick start. Gonna be a lot of pressure on MM and Moore and Dak. Actually the whole team and new staff will be feeling it. Good thing is that opposing teams only have old coaching footage and what our team did last year as a map of what to expect...

It’s funny how that works in the Dallas local media. The guys most responsible for the mess we’ve had the last 25 years, usually don’t get near the scrutiny they deserve. A few media folks- The Radio station The Ticket has some good critics. Dale Hanson, David Moore and Jean Jacques Taylor are also good critics. But there are not enough IMO.

I don’t know if that’s because they gave up years ago realizing nothing changes with the Jones cartel. Or if the media here just likes to suck up to the Jones cartel to get the free food and booze at the annual Jones media bash.

Out of boredom, I decided to watch highlights of this game tonight for first time since I slammed the remote down in a drunken stupor in what feels like years ago. I haven’t been able to bring myself to look at highlights even though the game produced some of the best ones from the season. What a missed opportunity. What a heart breaker. What a low point to be a fan of this team.

Everything was set up perfectly. Dak has arguably his best game as a pro IMO and we drove down the field to win the game. Despite poor play calling and falling behind early, we had the game in our grasp. We all know the outcome and would’ve been a season defining victory has instead became a season defining defeat.

Games like that, the Jets, Saints and of course, the Eagles made 2019 the most miserable season I remember. There is no way that team, especially offensively, should’ve been 8-8.

Thank god this team got the change we deserved. A 57 yard field goal on an opening drive!?
The punt return!?
The final 3 plays?

How in the world could a veteran coaching staff make mistakes like that? All in one game?

It’s almost as laughable as this 9 month delayed rant.
sorry blame JG all you want it wasnt Daks best game as pro as he played great in two playoff games and pretty good in another and that seatle playoff game , best game IMO..yes 3 qtrs of the MN game he was on , yet once again at the end of the game with the ball in his hands in close game, Dak failed to make the right reads and decisions on the RPOs and who to throw too, isnt that the one he ate the ball on 4th down on our final chance?

get passed it dak was part of the reason we lost, not just coaching or other players issues..Dak in 2019 was s horrible finishing games, seemed hesitant to run on RPOS or off scripts wanted to prove to what world a he could throw , contract on his mind and it effected his game IMO..

nothing to disagree with what you are saying but will ask the question on dak - is part of his hesitancy to run or rigidity with RPO in part due to how the coaching staff set him up? I don’t think we will ever know exactly what he was told but how he plays this year in similar situations might show that there were limits placed on him.

then again he might suck at the end of games this year and we can pretty much rule out that it was just coaching

You have just described nearly the ENTIRE Tony Romo and Jason Witten eras. It I was Tony and saw Jerry , I'd punch him in the ball.

That was the game that sealed the entire staff's fate with me. I wanted them all gone, including Kellen Moore.

Fans will be over critical of a MM loss especially the Garrett lovers. Others will have that grace period.
A few fans will use a MM win to further justify Garrett and staff being fired.

Many fans, from all teams will be blaming losses and playoff team outcomes on the odd off season. Especially if a dark horse team rises, and atop team falls.
Except NE & TB it will be the Brady factor.

Can't wait for game day threads, and post game threads.
We will get the usual QB negative and positive posts on Dak, and the joking posts, though some serious as well...when a QB makes a bad throw or a good throw, that Dak could or could not do that.
But now we will get the...would Garrett have made that decision. Or what if Garrett was coaching, what would he do.

All I remember from that game is that lazy *** lob at Zeke's feet to finish it off.
