I agree the media likely looks at sites like this. After all, they make their living on stories that fans are interested in, and this would be a source for determining that.

What makes you say some here work for the team? Do you think it's just natural that there are employees that would be interested enough in the team to be a member here, or do you think the team is paying people to be a member and participate in the threads?
You're up there on my suspect list pal!!

:lmao2:

Someone posted a video with Skip Bayless commenting about what was being said amongst fans on message boards concerning Dak, so apparently he visits them or someone is filling him in on what’s being said. Message boards/Twitter give the media a good read on what the majority of fans are thinking.

Blogging with the boys site has always been a shine pumper board. In this forum, we usually have realistic debates from both sides of the discussion.
Well......."usually realistic"? There's usually a couple of realistic posters chiming in, but by and large, I'd say exaggeration on both sides is the norm.

You can tell at least some in the media check out these boards. They seem to always know what the pulse of fans is like and they can only get a read on that by what’s being said by fans on message boards and responses they receive on Twitter. The fact that Broaddus had an account here is a good indication others in the media check out these boards.

Rocky, do you think the majority of fans, willing to spend the time talking about this team, are happy with the team? The negativity has an ebb and flow to it which is reflected in a lot of the talking and writing about this team from those that are not paid to be clown acts like Bayless, Sharpe, Smith and Cowerd.
Certainly the majority of CZ posters are negative. From my experience it’s the same everywhere. My friends who are Cowboys fans and who are positive about them are generally positive about life and the opposite is the same. Negative people will generally be negative no matter what the subject is.

There’s those in the media that don’t know a team like fans who follow a particular team. Some of us know the Cowboys inside and out because we follow them 365 days a year. Some of us have been following the team for decades. Even though there’s a number of clueless fans on these boards there are those who can provide some very good insight to even the media. I’ve seen some in the media miss some facts on the Cowboys because they don’t know the team very well.

Mosher used to post here

Once Twitter took off many in the media who were frequenting message boards left. They can interact with fans and get feedback on Twitter. I don’t remember Broaddus being as prolific on Twitter when he was posting here.

Sure, it’s possible, but I doubt it’s more than some folks want to imagine.

Reporting is a job. These guys may have a beat following the Cowboys but it doesn’t mean they’re fans of the team, so why would they be on a fan message board?

Also, these guys have real relationships with players and sources close to the team. What would they gain coming on a fan forum?

I could see a few limited scenarios where something has occurred to the team where they are trying gauge fan reaction or opinion on a matter, but not much else.
Because the team point of view may not be the same point of view as fan sentiment. Also it’s a broader range of content to choose from. Different story lines. Different narratives.
