re-sign Thorson to the practice squad,.. not active 53 roster.
But thus far earlier on, doesn't seem likely even for PS.

Oh. Got it. I don't think we will see the old fashioned 4-3 much, if at all, which is why we went short on traditional LBs.
4-3 with the third LB being SAM/DPR - so like Smith, Anae, etc.
3-4, or 4-2 nickel is what we will see the most.

It requires 4 years of service to become a vested veteran.
A player must be on the active roster for 6 or more games in a season for that season to qualify.
- Games on IR count if the player is on full-pay status.
- Example of not on full-pay status: Practice squad players that are waived injured revert to IR if not claimed.
Vested veterans are not subject to waivers until after the trade deadline.
Vested veterans quality for an NFL pension.

The 3rd LB (in a 4-3) and the 3rd CB are considered starters.
The one that gets the stat for starting is dependent on if the defense is in Nickel or base for the 1st snap of the game.

You can't coach size or speed.
I'm big on anthropometrics, especially with CBs and DEs. Westry is 6'4" with 33 3/4" arms, runs a 4.36 and jumps 38" in the vertical. He's so raw but despite that, he still put up 15 PBUs & 3 INTs at Kentucky. I know the NFL doesn't always allow for long-term player development, but I think if Al Harris can work with him, Westry could develop into one heck of a press corner. If nothing else, that size and speed should translate to legitimate Special Teams play capability.

It's not feasible because there's not enough snaps in a practice setting for four QBs.
