Let’s assume our OL is the problem

For the sake of argument.

Then who in our organization is responsible for not seeing it could be our weakness in what otherwise was considered by most to be an explosive offense.

If this OL turns out to be our Achilles heal then someone needs to answer for it.

How can an OL ranked top 5 heading into the season become after 1 game the entire scapegoat for our offensive struggles?

1. We are missing a starter who hopefully can be back in week 4.
2. The line got abused week 1, but at least the main disrupter wasn't a scrub, it was Donald.
3. Martin looked off, hopefully it was rust, tbd.
4. While the line struggled in the passing phase, the lanes weren't closed in the rushing attack.

My eyes on Sunday said no assumption necessary.

This is just another "Jerry and Stephen" suck thread, but in cursive this time.

Just bring back Garrett and all your problems are solved, right DHB?

Just one man's opinion but I think aging and injuries are the main culprit in our OL's swoon. It's not anything new. It has come to be over time. Hopefully, La'el might return to his former state of health. Perhaps Biadasz will eventually take over at center. Other than that, it's likely our best bet for 2020.

Also takes a smart game plan and adjustments to help the o line...coaching is a big part of success. The idea of just lining up and executing and beating your man doesn’t work. There should have been more quick passes, play action, and screens. Donald and their d line had their ears pinned back the entire time and nothing was done to stop it.

Also, stop running the ball up the middle on 1st down 40+% of the time. It’s not 1970 anymore.

They took Williams in the 2nd and McGovern in the 3rd so they're not ignoring the fact they need to keep acquiring and grooming OL but Williams was a OG project and McGovern hasn't been healthy. We saw Booger place importance on that position when he nixed the trade idea and stayed with McGovern.

I saw something I haven't seen since we drafted Martin, him getting pushed around. I wonder if there's an injury issue there because he sure as hell took his turn in the box in LA. I hope that's not just the wear and tear starting to show up because they still have questions at C and LG and Big Smitty isn't getting any younger or better.

The OL denigrated over time because they didn't place importance on it but that changed and they've been trying to keep the strength of the team strong. In this last draft, they had to go D, especially after taking a WR with the 1st.

I said it at the time and I'll say it again, they should have made it a priority to keep Leary. He earned it and was the enforcer on the OL and the heart of it. Sometimes you have to not just consider the player as an individual but as part of the whole, he made that OL better.

Don't forget they drafted Biadaz this year as well. The FO is NOT ignoring the OL, they just haven't hit on any all-pros in a while. I think Williams is a serviceable RG against 99% of the league. Looney is a placeholder until they feel Biadaz is ready, who knows what McGovern is. Him not being active on Sunday night tells me that he isn't as highly thought of as some on this board want to believe. Getting Collins back will be a big boost. I thought Steele was just ok. Hope he can improve as the weeks go along until La'el can get back. Depth is a problem for the entire league. It is just a matter of which coaching staff can do enough to minimize the drop off when there are starters out.

With no pre season and very limited contact in what training camp they had, the OL will struggle for a few weeks. But we supposedly have a mobile QB and we don't use that to help the ol when we seem to be struggling.
