Bad pick by the Giants.

Never made sense for that franchise and he was a luxury they couldn't afford.

At least with Dallas they had a foundation in place and you could validate picking a RB that high.

NYG was a trash team and had no business picking him.

unfortunate. Barkley is one of my favorite players to watch in the league. Brutal injury. That team is going to have to clean house moving forward, so I wonder what his future holds.

His dead cap is nearly $10 million next year, his contract year. So he'll get a chance to prove he can stay healthy next year. He got over $31 million guaranteed, so he's not hurting financially.

All depends on how he does next year...

It was a bad pick because he tore his ACL?
It was a horrendous pick because their GM is an idiot and thought they could still win games with the roster they had when in reality they had almost no talent and their O line was one of the worst in the league, has been one of the worst in the league and is still one of the worst in the league.

It’s amazing Barkley was able to accomplish what he did his first year and last year with a high ankle sprain most of the season. I really feel for the him, he seems like a stand up dude and he never had a chance. If the Giants were smart they would trade him for whatever they could which won’t be much now since he’s damaged goods and coming up on a contract. They should just cut ties for their own good and for Barkley’s best interests. I would love to see what he could do behind even a top 10 O line...just not in our division.

Comprehension on this website at times lol...

I just posted different reasons why and that is what you took from it.

It was always a bad pick and I said this when he was healthy.
So why mention it was a bad pick in a thread about his injury?

Who cares what you thought when they drafted him?

Why mention this now when he is injured?

The stupidity on this site at times Lol

I wasn't lamenting his financial situation, just wondering whether he'll be a part of their long term plans. The team sucks, it was a bad pick, and he doesn't overcome their other woes the way I think they might have believed. So doesn't make sense to pay him a 2nd contract in my opinion, since they 're still a long ways off.

While they did/do have a terrible OL, he still had an outstanding rookie season in which he had over 2k scrimmage yards.

The mistake was moreso not doing more to improve that OL sooner rather than draft a generational talent

Because taking a RB, a position often injured, when you have multiple holes on your team is a luxury you can't afford.

If Barkley was completely healthy I would say they should trade him.

That pick is like going out and buying a brand new car when the old one is fine and your up to your ears in debt already.

Again, it depends on how he recovers. Another 1,500 - 2,000 yard season and he'll be resigned, running backs that can do that are still valuable. If he comes back next year and isn't at least close to what he was in his rookie year, I suspect he'll be let go...
