1 (5th) Caleb Farley CB 6’2” 197 Virginia Tech
Do you guys remember when Jerry proclaimed Mo Claiborne was the highest-rated CB since Deion? Well, as you can expect from Jerry, that was hyperbole. Farley has been a focal point for me for 3 years. I was so early on him that I would ask guys like Matt Miller and Dane Brugler am I crazy for loving this kid. Now, everyone has come around. Athletically and size-wise, he is one of the best Cornerback prospects I have seen since Deion. GPS tracking had him at 24 mph in a game last year (Tyreek Hill tracked at 22 mph). Farley teams with Trevon Diggs to give the Cowboys two tall and athletic bookend Corners for the foreseeable future.

2 (37th) Daniel Faalele T 6’8” 400 Minnesota
Like Farley, Faalele is a player I have been monitoring for a while now. I saw him up close when he first arrived at IMG Academy as an Australian rugby player. A lot of times when you have a human being this big, they struggle with the quick, athletic movements required in football. Daniel has unique mobility for such a large man and he’s still scratching the surface on technique. He can help the Cowboys now in jumbo and goal line packages; long term he can be the eventual replacement for Tyron Smith.

3a (69th) Trevon Moehrig S 6’1” 208 TCU
Our long national nightmare is over if the Cowboys add this centerfielding Safety to the defense, especially in the 3rd round. If you Dallas-area guys aren’t currently watching him, start immediately. Day one starter at Free Safety.

3b (100th) Jordan Davis DT 6’5” 330 Georgia
Another large human being, Davis would bring some athleticism to the 1Tech position and allow the Cowboys to move on from the under-achieving Dontari Poe.

4a (111th) Jaycee Horn CB 6’1” 205 South Carolina
I don’t think he is anywhere close to being available at 111 in real life. The son of former Saints WR Joe Horn, Jaycee is another big, physical Corner. Remember, the Cowboys could lose Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, and Daryl Worley to free agency after 2020; CB depth will be needed.

4b (143rd) Reggie Roberson Jr. WR 6‘0” 200 SMU
I’m a subscriber of the Draft-a-WR-yearly Front Office philosophy. One of my players is at SMU and when I attended some practices last season, I couldn’t get over how smooth Roberson's routes were and how relaxed he was on every catch. The game seems easy to him. Recently hurt, he’s already put up 474 yards receiving and 5 TD in 4 games for the Mustangs this year.

5 (traded to Philadelphia)

5 (178th) Jaelan Phillips DE 6’5” 258 Miami
With the year he’s having he should go way higher than this. A Former 5-star recruit, he has missed significant time with injuries. He’s not as quite as explosive off the snap but he really reminds me of Randy Gregory.

6 (traded to New England)

6 (213th) Kuony Deng LB 6’6” 235 California
A former junior college kid, Deng has great size and athleticism (anyone seeing a trend with me yet?). He’s still learning the nuances of football with only a few years of playing since transferring over from basketball. The Bears use him as an inside backer in their 3-4, whereas I envision him as a Sam backer who has the height and agility to run with Tight Ends.

7 (219th) Hunter Long TE 6’5” 240 Boston College
He’s exploded on the scene this season, and with teams admiring the George Kittle’s and Travis Kelce’s of the NFL world, I can see him rising way up draft boards. This particular draft board has him available here so I’m taking him. In his two previous years he had 32 catches for 612 yards. In 3 games this season, he has already caught 25 balls and 2 TD’s.

I would trade down and get as many picks as possible. This is a weird season, and I think there will be some diamonds in the rough considering nobody got a proper off-season to prepare so preparation and development isn't ideal. On top of that this team has lots of holes, and bad contracts that need to come off the books go load up on picks this year because this will be the biggest crapshoot draft class ever.

OR

If you are drafting high enough to get Lawrence, Lance, or Fields draft one of the franchise and trade Dak for multiple first-round picks.

Moehrig isn’t lasting until the 3rd round if he decides to come out. They aren’t drafting a tackle in the 2nd round unless Tyron retires.

Were we definitely drafting a WR at 17 coming into the 2020 Draft?

The process is way more fluid than that.

Also, so far in four games our starting tackles have missed 6 starts (Collins 4 games, T. Smith 2 starts). It's a bigger need than you think.

I don't think Moehrig lasts til the 69th pick either. However, guys here last year seriously suggested the Cowboys take Zack Baun at 17; he went 74th.

Lamb was going to be a starter day 1 in a 3 WR set. Where would Faalele play? And 400 lbs he would need a lot of time to get in NFL shape.

I like the player and if the defense didn’t have so many holes I’d love the pick long term but this defense needs its 1st and 2nd picks to be starters

Don't know about a 400-lb. player at any position but I like a T in the 2nd if he's at the top of the board. Farley is a stud. My fourth-round WR is Amari Rodgers, though. He's a 5'10" and 210-lb. spark plug, athletic and quick as snot on a doorknob.

How hard was that for you to type?

and we should absolutely have Juan Thornhill on this defense. He's another guy I loved early and was thrilled we had a shot at. Only to Rod Marinelli it all up.
Heh. Yeah. I had to take a shower afterward. ;) But really, if he can play, once he leaves Blacksburg I welcome him in Dallas. I'm still mostly speechless about Juan. I singlehandedly wished him all the way down the draft board and into their laps.

I really like the draft but I would take Chaz Suratt LB UNC in round 2 especially over a OT. I think he will be really, really good in the pros. Was a QB and switched to LB last season and came up big. This year, only 2 games, he has played well.

The reason I don't think OT is a need is because Tyron is still playing, Collins will be back and Knight is getting tons of experience this season. Not only that but Williams and Martin can also play tackle.

Great points but also safeties tend to go much later then expected. Just a year ago Adderley, Rapp and Thornhill was all said to be gone in first round or top of the second and all 3 were available late 2nd
