Jaylon Smith Defining Play

There was a time when they were coached to give the ball to a faster player if it were "safe" to do so,,, don't know if that's still true. All is well that ends well I guess,,, but I too am frustrated with Jaylon being out of position more often than not.

Jaylon seems to take a lot more steps than he needs to getting from A to B. It's almost like his legs have a mind of their own and his upper body just tries to hold on. Almost like he's dancing instead of just running. It's super weird looking.
That's a great way of explaining it. It looks the same way to me.

Yeah I sense the snark. I played more than JV in HS but I guess you are Lombardi and Butkus rolled up in one so why argue with greatness.
Nope, I know my limitations when it comes to understanding x's and o's, so I might put more faith into somebody that does it for a living at the NFL level than a bunch of random guys on the interwebs.

Another underwhelming game from the worlds most underwhelming LB. IMHO the play that totally defines who this guy is was the amazing hit by Wilson for the fumble and the amazing recovery by Lawrence. Two guys who have been playing super hard lately. After his team does all the work Jaylon runs in, grabs the ball from his own team and foolishly takes off like he is Bo Jackson. I was so sure he was going to fumble it away and ruin all the hard work put in by the other players. I will be super happy when this clown is gone.

Perfectly executed read-option.

This is an opinion forum. People voice their opinion. The team is 3-7. Questioning coaching decisions is fair game. You can spout your holier than thou garbage as it’s your right. That said it makes you seem like a swarmy little guy. Maybe you are.

I have no problem questioning coaching decisions made on Sundays, during the games. I do have a problem with questioning coaching decisions without any evidence or knowledge of what goes on in the meeting rooms and practice field because none of us our privy to that information. Those that think they know better than the coaches that have all that information are the "holier than thou" garbage spouters.

Cook ran all over them. Smith failed to seal the edge time and again. It’s a weekly issue. He will make the occasional splash play because he is a great athlete but he refuses to do the essential things to be great at the position. There is more evidence the coaches see this and he won’t be in Dallas for long. Thanks to the worst GM in the league they are razor thin at LB. They have no choice but to play Smith.

I don't think you can call him a great athlete. He's just really muscular. An athletic LBer in the NFL wouldn't be as slow as he is. Wouldn't not be able to run diagonally. Would not get blocked out of plays by TEs. He looks the part, but so does Armstrong. Doesn't make you athletic.

This was actually one of the very few good plays he made yesterday. But man, I just can't see how we can enter 2021 with him starting at LB.

Jaylon's responsibility to set the edge? The coaches see all this terrible play, yet continue to give him more snaps than any other LB on the team. I wonder what they see that we don't. It's almost like they are paid professionals vs some guys that played JV football in high school.

I started to post the same thing. The complaints about Jaylon are getting comical.

You think the issue is that Jaylon is slow? If you saw the Seattle game he played the Spy role on Wilson, which is something not many NFL players can do successfully.

Go back and watch the hit on Watson a couple years ago. That was a rare athletic play for a LB. Smith’s problems are between the ears.

Wasn't he in the middle of the field on a crucial third down...looks like he lost contain and got sucked in. Anyway, Kirk beats him to the marker and Jaylon had less distance to cover. I agree. I don't hate guys but it's getting close with this guy. I. CANT. STAND. HIM.
This is what you call conformation bias.
Jaylon was middle of the field yes but his job was zone coverage and a WR ran right at him. He had to sidestep then sprint all the way to the sideline.
Jaylon has had some realllllyyyy bad games but yesterday wasn't one.
He filled holes and played very physical all day.
