"Gimme mo money, Jerry. I have options."

What is he supposed to say, "No, I'm desperate to hang on as OC with the Cowboys"?

I think he wants more than money. If I were him I'd be holding out for a promise/guarantee of a head coaching gig in a season or two.

Kellen Moore has a waaaay better chance to earn millions upon millions AND become a head coach in the NFL if he stays with the Cowboys.

Hope he thinks this through properly.

"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has spoke highly of Moore in the past and likely will be willing to offer him a substantial raise — potentially equal or greater than what he’d make at Boise State — to stay in Dallas."

Hint hint.....you are the chosen one and next in line to be the next HC. You have been fast tracked for a reason.

Funny, Mac wants him to leave...job security?

I personally think it's his job to lose. It's really going to be up to him at this point. My only reservation on his transition to BSU head coach is if it is a bit premature in his coaching career. I guess we will see. I can guarantee you the Boise area will welcome him with open arms. He is a legend around here. I'm surprised we haven't named any streets after him yet. lol

Recruiting will not be a problem for Moore - or any other HC candidate.
Boise State has had a significant appeal since their signature victory over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. They recruit nationally.
According to Sports247.com - in a 2018 article, 116 California and 32 Texas HS players went to Montana to play on the blue field since 2002.
In that same article, it stated 55 of the 111 players on the Broncos team were from California.
On their current 2020 roster Boise State has players from 15 states other than Idaho = 30%.
AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, MN, NC, ND, NV, OR, TX, UT, VA, WA.

I agree. He needs to take the Boise job. His NFL experience will bring him back to the NFL if he succeeds
Can you name some college hc's who've been recently signed as nfl hc's? Most of the recent nfl hires i can think of have all been nfl oc's. Lafleur, Shanahan, mcvay, stefanski.

I don't think Moore can get a promise to dump McCarthy that soon.

Though being a big fatso makes McCarthy look older, he is only 57. A kid to Jerry. If things go well, McCarthy probably gets a new contract after his 5 are up.

I don't see HC of the Cowboys in Moore's future unless the Cowboys crater. Again. And iffy for Moore to get the HC job if we do crater.

Though I would really find it hilarious to see Moore follow in the footsteps of Garrett as Boy Genius II.

Moore will get offered HC somewhere else before McCarthy is gone. And *given* that Moore doesn't have an easy path to take over in Dallas, it's *more* likely he takes the Boise State gig. That's probably good for decades.

I'm sure there are a lot of Division 2 schools that Moore could coach at if that's the only goal.
What other goal is there!?? Money? If you're a coach, you want to be a head coach. This job is different than most. I took a 20k pay it once and turned that into a 60k raise in three years. That may not seem like a lot to some, but it was a 30% raise for me. Wasn't about the money, it was about the job!

....good either way, he's doing good here and adding stock of becoming HC or OC somewhere else. College gig is also up his alley.

I think Jerry ponies up serious coin to make him the highest paid OC in the NFL and might even do a dual promotion deal where he holds the Asst. HC title as well in order to pacify Kellen's newfound leverage against Grandpa Jerry.

I think Moore is and has always been Jerry's second coming of Garrett vision.
I believe he will do anything and everything in order to keep him as the future HC of the Cowboys so that Jerry can be seen as THE Football Man he so desperately craves to be known as.

Jerry's Master Plan still finally coming together but by highly irregular methods, lol

Just my opinion

The real question is if Moore has built up enough equity with Jerry so far that if an ultimatum choice was forced by Kellen would Jerry fire McCarthy and promote Kellen to HC so soon?

That would be a truly entertaining scenario to watch play out.

There are only 32 nfl head coaching jobs in the world. It is the acme of the coaching ranks. Few jobs demand as much time and conviction. Hard job to get. Harder to keep.

Absolutely not true. Some guys are content being a coordinator or position coach. Not everyone wants, or can handle, the sixteen hour days year round.
Position coaches and coordinators put in just as many hours as the head coach.

What keeps many guys from wanting the top job are the extra responsibilties- making public appearances off-season (booster clubs), weekly radio & tv shows, local\regional\national interviews all week long prior to every game, press conferences after every game.

Many coaches just want to do the nuts & bolts of football - instructing players during practices on the field and in the film/video room, then on the sidelines \ in the stadium booth on game days.

No! Any assistant that doesn't want to be a head coach needs to retire.

If he wants a career as a winning championship coach at whatever level he has to get away from this organization and the Jones family. God speed Kellen. Say hi to Sean Payton for us when you run into him next time.
