You're talking about Jim Leonhard, which would also be an inspired choice.

I like this choice too. Him or Steinauer would be great choices.

Lewis is an excellent coordinator and we would be lucky to have him.

He probably should have gotten the HC job over MM in hindsight.

Want to consider him a retread and want newer blood? Sure, that's fine....but don't tell me Lewis is a crap DC because he didn't win as HC w the Bengals.

He coached them through their by far best run in franchise history.....and the Ravens defense wasn't all that bad either.

He was a very good DC and he's a professional.

However, he's a bit of an enabler and with our already suspect culture, I'm not a fan of him coming here.

Names that were mentioned as Eagles DC

Kris Richard: It wasn’t that long ago that Richard was a really hot name in the coaching world but he’s been out of the league in 2020 after he wasn’t retained when the Cowboys moved on from Jason Garrett. That Dallas defense has completely collapsed without him.
.

Good to see his name on the list.

Excellent coach.

I vote for Jason Garrett for several reasons:

1. he can’t be worse as a DC than he was as OC and then HC

2. Remember when Jones fired him from being an OC (for being totally incompetent) and made him go to defensive meetings? Well this was Jerrahs long term plan all along

3. @Idgit has a list of 10 other nonsensical reasons as the resident Garrett apologist

he would also become HC in waiting which o wouldn’t like at all so need to nip this in the bud

That defense had six 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks. Three of them are in the hall of fame.

I don't see Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Rod Woodson on our roster. Those guys were stars before and after Lewis.

Perhaps it was more about the Jimmies and Joes than the X and Os?

:hammer:

Thank you Jake !!!!! Zhat point needed to be made. People looking at records and not the players . . . I guess we could call that Jonesin' ! Lewis is not the guy for this job fo sho.

I would like to see a younger mother f@#$%ker come in with HIS game plan on how to turn things around. A young mother f@#$%^ker who understands today's athlete, but at the same time won't take any s!@#$%^t from candy players. A young mother f@#$%^ker who will demand that the draft starts on his side of the ball, anything less than that will not be tolerated and JJ can stick this job up your ***! This is for the most part and young man's league and this organization needs to start loading up on young intelligent coaches, not the old out of touch ones that teach the same old plays every mother f#$%^ker has seen since this league started.
Would be interested to be a fly on the wall at job interviews with this dream coach of yours. Lol

Fair enough.

Has to be someone the players respect. Someone they will play hard for.

I see other teams play with much more passion than ours, defensively anyway....far too often.

Of course I continue to maintain that coaching is next to impossible in Dallas with Jerry and his need to be liked by players.

Is he interested in backing up to a DC gig? Is he interested in coaching a D that is talent challenged and putting his name on this?

Was that him or Mike Brown? Lewis didn't bring Mixon in after that video surfaced.

One thing about Lewis, he has experience in dealing with an owner that fashions himself as a GM. And Brown is no better than Booger.

That is a valid observation and how odd is it that the two franchises GM'd by the owners are the worse at the inmates running the asylum?

MARVIN LEWIS
DC Arizona State
https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.fansided.com%2Flogos%2Fncaa%2Farizonastate.png

The Cowboys only interviewed one candidate other than McCarthy for their head coaching job, and that was Lewis, who was let go by the Cincinnati Bengals after a 15-year stint. Lewis, the mastermind of the 2000 Ravens defense, has linked up with his buddy Herm Edwards at Arizona State after the NFL exiled him. While it is fair to question Lewis‘ chops as a head coach, his defensive mind remains as sharp as ever, and Jones could try to bring him in as the defensive coordinator if he wants a quick fix.The biggest problem in Dallas, in tandem with poor talent on the defensive side of the ball, is a lack of leadership and cohesion. Considering Lewis’ experience in the NFL, he should be able to get this fractured bunch playing as one. While he hasn’t had a ton of opportunities to showcase his work in Tempe, the Sun Devils are playing the same aggressive style of defense Lewis perfected in Baltimore and installed in Cincinnati. If worse comes to worst and the Cowboys decided to fire McCarthy, they will have a perfect candidate ready to step in and lead this team in Lewis.
i think kellen moore would get the hc job if they make a move on mccarthy.
