I was watching players lounge with church and mccray and church said what i said the other day. Jaylon and LVE both SUCK at guarding tight ends and backs which is why were probably the worst screen defending team in the NFL. And tight ends always eat against us. Next year we play the raiders and chiefs. Waller and Kelce will go for 300

What's wild is they could. They really could.
But why can't they?

Jaylon? You can say his knee, but really? He can move. He may have issues turning, but he can do things to an adequate level, but he doesn't.
LVE? What stops him?

Are they both stopping themselves? Is it scheme? Is it coaching?

What exactly is it?

We'll see this year with both.

He gets to the ball quickly, is a good pass rusher and showed improvement in pass protection. Plus he’sa good tackler.

First, "the ball" usually passes by him since his "tackles" are usually downfield being
already made by other players.

Second, "pass protection" sounds like a negative term for a defensive player... lol

Third, he's a what? A good tackler? Lmao.

He’s weak in the run game no doubt. But he does move to the outside runs very well. And yes, he’s a good tackler regardless of where he makes the tackle, he still makes the tackle. I don’t think he should be a 3 down player but used in passing situations.

Seems as if the young man makes a lot of tackles 4-7 yards off the ball. Is he only a catch LB, or is he out of place in the defense.

Where do you put him? Was there lack of effort because of the situation of the season? Is the drop foot completely gone? I trust on you guys because you watch film and replay the heck out of the season. We need the real truth.

much thanks!
Is this another Jaylon sucks thread or do you want to know what Cowboys Zone think the front office will do with Jaylon? I think the Cowboys will ask Jaylon to take a pay cut. If he does not except it they will cut him before they have to pay his roster bonus and give him a June 1st designation.

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
If the DL did their job, the LBs especially Jaylon could have done better.
That and a bad scheme did not help.

oh, and he was one of the NFL”s top tacklers. However fans on here ragged on him for the bad plays he missed as ALL players do at times.

but the same fans will not listen to reason, they just want to rag on him because they expect a 2000 Ravens type defense from every player.

my pet peeve was he looked a lot slower and heavier than from 2018 and 2019

Totally agree.
As both a blitzer and to cover a simple zone.
Yes.

Why would they ask a cornerstone to take a paycut?

Make him blitz more.

I initially thought that was our only hope with him too. But after watching him do that last season he’s not even good at that. He just doesn’t have any instincts for football. I mean literally none. He had the worst timing I’ve seen from a blitzer and always got caught in the scrum. His only real attribute he offers is hasn’t gotten hurt since the injury. That’s unfortunate for us.

There's a leg issue. Don't know if it's drop foot or something from compensating for it. Early 2019, he started to have a hitch in his run got more pronounced as the season went on. Doesn't seem like he can drive off one of his legs. Can't stop and cut either.

IMO, a lot of the weird-looking fails are behavioral compensations for the physical limitations.

People keep trying to find a role for him, but his physical limitations show up whether it's blitzing, coverage, or run defense.

A Jerry favorite so look for restructure and extension.

There was talk about forcing him to take a pay cut. Unless they know of a physical problem that they *expect* to improve, they should move on.

When I coached I always hated catch LB

Ok, i've replayed a few play this year that left me scratching my head. He didn't even try on a couple. I'm not saying its a long season and that normal. As a fan i expect more. If he is gassed, tap your helmet . 0% of Smith is not better than a less talented player going full out.
