If an NFL QB reaches the level of play that they deserve a second high end contract, they will almost always be vastly over-paid. Dak, if and when he is signed, will be no exception.

The supply of quality NFL QB's is probably as low as it's been in decades. The need for quality NFL starting QB's is probably at one if it's highest modern day levels.

Like him or not, the signing of Dak Prescott is a no brainer for the Dallas Cowboys. They either over pay for Dak, over pay to move up in the draft to risk taking a QB that has a good chance of a 65%-80% failure rate, or they get on the free agent QB merry go round signing averge/below QBs year after year.

If you're here to argue that Dak is an average or below average QB - Move on, your argument is invalid. There are plenty of NFL experts that think otherwise.

Pay Dak so we can all move on.

On the other hand MM had a HOF QB for his entire coaching time and only got to 1 SB. Just maybe he understands you need more to win it all.
I think he does, just like Sean Payton does.

Arians had a HOF QB in AZ and now he has one in TB, he knows the difference is what's around the QB. Brady wasn't the only pickup, he picked up Fournette, Gronkowski and Suh. All factors in getting to and winning that SB.

But I do think McC was in need of a job and more than willing to tell Booger what he wanted to hear. He didn't want to hear "I can't win with your QB".

The beauty of having guys like Brady, Brees and Rodgers is that you can win with less around them. QB's like Cousins, Ryan and Stafford, they've got to have more.

Bingo.

For every Dak there is twice as many Connor Cooks and Paxton Lynch’s
People keep on banging on about Paxton Lynch and it makes me laugh.

Had we drafted Lynch in 2016 and it went badly (but who knows if he had played behind the best o line in football)...then we could have drafted Mahomes in 2017!

But no worries it's ok - with the impending reduced salary cap we might be able to sign Dak Prescott coming off a serious leg injury for circa $35-$40 million a season for the foreseeable future.

We are probably very lucky we have control over the player.

IMO paying him or not is much better conversation than which cast-off can we trade premium picks for in order to be competitive at QB?

I'd rather let Dak walk and try to recapture the 2016 -2019 era again instead of just locking down what we have seen the last 2 seasons and thinking they can turn that into a winner.

All we will be now is the fighting Dak Prescotts. He should be good for your fantasy teams. Unfortunately our real life team will be stuck in mediocrity. The 1 thing we have going for us is our division sucks though so we may sneak a wildcard win in here and there.

History is really repeating itself like it did with Romo.
so you advocate to go the route of QUnicy Carter, Chad Hutchinson path for a few years....great plan

btw, did you know 15 years, 44 defensive picks, one impact player named Lawrence....until we fix that, I don't care if Mahomes is the QB...we are going to struggle between 7-9 to 9-7.

Romo and Dak were the only ones who gave us a chance....and if you think picking a QB top of the draft is going to change anything, you have no idea son.....

3-4 years. And thats IF you hit on the QB you draft. If not. You rebuild and youre back with no QB in 5 years
exactly and 3-4 years, just in time to pay the QB and go through the asinine argument again, except the aveage top QB salaries will be in the 50s...can you imagine what they say then

But you said it was the beginning of the end?
Yes so it would simply be time to be even more patient. I have waited over 20 years, what's another 3-4 years until Prescott's awful contract is off the books?

Goodbye defence help in FA,look for more offensive help in the draft, gotta make it dak friendly.
you can not build a defense through FA. you have to have a core in place. 15 years. 44 defensive draft picks. 1 impact player called Lawrence, who most think is over paid and over rated.....fix the draft...else 180M in cap space can't help this team

Actually, since we are hearing it from multiple sources there is more credibility. Likely that the reporters have information that the sides are talking.

The sides have been 'talking", off and on, since 2019.

Either it happens, or it doesn't. Personally I'm not paying attention to any rumors or media "insiders", does nothing for me....
