Shawn Oakman Give Him a Chance

The guy can play in this league. He seems to be blackballed because stuff he was found not guilty of. .Oakman dominated the XFL and you cannot tell me some schlep like Dorance Armstrong who hasn't done JACK is worth keeping around on our roster

Players are given ton of leeway depending on their talent level even if they are found guilty or non guilty(but name still dragged) of crimes.

If Oakman was a stud/good DE/DT, a team would of signed him and taken any flack after his court case was over.
Personally, I think he got overhyped over that coinflip photo where he looked like some jacked comic book hero.
Got screwed over due to the legal issue that came at the absolute wrong time right before the draft.*
3 years of legal battle and 2020 was a bad year for him as the XFL and CFL shutdown early or didn't play at all.


*Say screwed over cause he was found not guilty way after the fact.

Maybe this offseason he'll be given a chance, but not sure if it'll be here.

Dallas is the land of second chances. We probably would have signed him if Jerry knew his name. Beyond the top 20 picks in the drafts, Jerry got no time to GM.

how old is he? If hes mid 20's then maybe.

he looks pretty bad here^..man I watched the vids...easy pass. He sucks.

Pass for now. He's with the Toronto Argonauts atm, so we will see how he fairs with them. If he plays well for them, then maybe.

If he had NFL talent he'd already be in the NFL. These guys get plenty of chances.

He's about to turn 29 and has no sniff of an opportunity in the NFL - he's not making it in the league.

28...ignoring the fact that he has had *multiple* accusations, and a not guilty verdict does not mean that he didn't do it, because maybe people change

But in the XFL in 2019 he had all of 7 tackles and 1 sack...I don't know how one concludes he has any talent for this level of play

Shawn Oakman is a total and complete turd.

Being found not guilty hardly means you are innocent and definitely doesn't mean you are not a giant chum bucket. He was trash long before he ever got to Baylor.

He is 28 and can't play. He had all of 7 tackles and 1 sack in the 5 weeks of his XFL career.
What type of brain disease must one have to post this??

Yeah but being innocent also doesn't mean you're guilty. I don't know the guy. Seems like scum for the most part but he's not necessarily the type of guy who can get away with this type of stuff.

I am willing to ignore that one case altogether.
He was charged with assaulting a female student at PennSt(theft and disorderly conduct as well) when she tried to stop him from stealing a sandwich.
He followed that with another female assault in 2013 at Baylor.
Then the rape case in 2016.

He was cut once (that lasted a month) for the LA Wildcats in the XFL in 2019 because of "locker room issues".

A lot of sad incel types like to decry how he was railroaded and had his shot detailed but reality is he has been a scum bucket most of his life if his actions are any guide.
And football wise he put together one season of plus play. EVER.
His junior year.
He started 12 games as a Senior at Baylor and had a whopping 4.5 sacks. He seriously underwhelmed. He is a monstrously large man but showed no signs of elite movement skills.
Professionally he has never amounted to anything on the field. Even in his 5 or 6 chances since.
He will run again in the CFL apparently later in 2021.
If he tears it up there he may well get an NFL call.
But he is 28 with zero professional skins on the wall and no sign of being a decent guy.

Oh I'm in no disagreement . He's scum or he was scum. Either way, he always looked the part. Instead of getting to the next level with his god gifted physical abilities he used them for harm. Tough to get behind that.

He is from Philly. Gross
He was accused of assault and theft then recruited to a Southern Baptist university, Baylor by Art Briles. Double Gross.
So I admit I am probably biased against the guy but I absolutely detest loser dudes who defend guys they have never met that are almost certainly trash but mostly just to women.

Myron that sums it up. I remember tuning in specifically to watch him and he looks like an absolute beast but it never translated to making impact in games
