Dak has a value, 1st rounders have a value, but time is priceless. Throwing away seasons by getting rid of by far your best QB option is a price no one should want to pay. You're in a better position with a highly paid pro bowl QB and less 1sts than you are without a QB in any other scenario.

This guy would know!

Those two 1st round picks are literally the two birds in the bush.

You can always tell when the Cowboys have been gifted with an absolute steal in the draft or rookie free agency. As soon as that player shocks the NFL it's time to lowball them on their next contract or replace them with some veteran free agent that can barely make it out the tunnel.

If a Staubach, Walls, Cliff Harris or Drew Pearson type player were to show up for the next training camp they would be lucky to make the practice squad.

This franchise can recognize talent, they just don't know what to do with it. They have the best bird in their hands but they need both hands for those two birds in the bush, so.....

Sorry to say you have very little vision. We are at best an 8-8 with Dak.
Get a young QB and draft pays any day of the week and twice on Sundays. It's a no brainer.
Only the Jones boys would screw this up.

Yeah you can say I have no vision..but you have provided zero vision on how you fix the qb situation without Dak..so you are the one who has no vision

I'll keep Dak. Without a QB we're going nowhere. Remind me of the post Aikman days. Good D but no QB.

Check my other post.
Transition tag get a 1st and 3rd, there is no way to trade him this is not the NBA. Worst case scenario, draft a guy early, late whatever the talent evaluators think. Sign a transition guy if you have, Fitz could get us to a division title and make 12 million a year. How about that?
I think Fitz on a short time span is as good as Dak. I said it and I am not afraid. This is not an anti Dak thing. I would say the same for Wentz, Cousins, Goff.. all these type of guys are replaceable.
This league gets smarter every day, and our team needs to take advantage of these opportunities. There is blueprint on not what to do at QB just look all around the league.
Rams are all in, they had no choice buy to sign Stafford and if they make another SB it still might be worth it. They had no picks already and up against the cap. Goff would not enable them to win a SB. They have a top 5 coach. You have to take your shots when you get them.
I think a smart team can sign Dak, like the Niners and not overpay him. I think Dak is a good player but he needs a lot around him to have a chance to win. If I was him I would try to sign with NO, SF, Indy has Wentz already. Steelers signed Big Ben.

As I do my research on the 2021 draft class, I am starting to think I'd rather have players as compensation instead of draft picks. The draft class this year looks weak to me with so many iffy players. I'd have to see the player first of course, but the concept is instead of potentially drafting a player who has not played in a year why not take a guy with a couple of years of NFL experience who is already producing the results I am looking for?
They are Iffy only because the draft is iffy.
Hard to evaluate collegiate talent on shortened season due to the pandemic.
If you trust your draft staff, and believe in them, this could be a monumental haul of epic proportions.

a ton of cap space to take advantage of the unprecedented free agent opportunities that will be available this year

or Dak on a short term deal at 40 per?

It's easy for me.

How many times do we have to go over this point about the two 1st round picks? The only way the Cowboys would get two first round picks would be if they put the non-exclusive tag on Dak, and another team actually negotiates with him and the Cowboys refuse to match the offer. I am not an expert in football operations, but based on what I have read, letting other teams set the market is not a good idea.

Please cite what team will give two first round picks for Dak.

If you understand the mechanics of this premise, then you will understand you have misled the public with this thread.

*Dak's injury - is he healed or forever scarred either by being gimpy or having what we refer to as Wentz Mental Disorder? What team wants to take that chance?
*Dak agreeing to a contract for trade purposes - why would he not use his leverage to dictate which team you trade him to? The nano-second Dallas goes to him with this idea, he has all the power to nix it.
*Name the team that will give two firsts.
*Name the team that will give two firsts, this year. Getting firsts down the road does nothing for replacing Dak with anyone of note. You now wasted a year on the contract of Coop, Zeke, Gallup - who becomes a FA - Lamb and anything you get in the draft or FA.
*What is the residual cap hit to the Cowboys for this sign and trade? Is there anyone here that truly thinks the team trading for Dak will not push off some of the contract on Dallas?
*What team would allow Jerry to negotiate a contract with Dak that reaches in to the trading team's wallet? If Jerry can't get it done for his team, why would Dak not up the demand by three million or so? And what team is going to make Dak the highest paid player in the NFL, because that was the best Jerry could do in negotiations?

The simplistic idea you can just go to the trade store, get Dak to agree, and make this happen is MADDEN, and maddening for those who apply critical thinking.

Why would your trade partner not just wait Dallas out?
Why would Dak agree to any trade unless it was to a team that just needed a QB to get to the Championship game?
If Dak is worth two firsts to another team, he should be worth two firsts to Dallas. This problem arose because Jerry couldn't pick a race between Secretariat and a plow horse. This was created because Jerry insulted Dak with a low ball offer after giving Zeke too much money. And Dak's agent, who has fomented this distrust of Dallas in the mind of Dak, and is also trying to make a name for himself as an agent who just went solo, will bend Jerry over on any deal to make this happen, with the caveat of a three year deal to hit FA again for his boy.

Put down the game controller and wash your hands before dinner. Be sure to eat your vegetables.
