Who made this rule of only one? If I get to choose a rule maker, it's not going to be Hawkeye! I don't even want to be restricted to these 9 choices! I can take all of them and add some like Cherry Vanilla, Pistachio, Caramel Swirl and that's not even getting into the frozen yogurts, sherbets and Italian ices!!!!

He also didn't stipulate is this forever? A day? One serving? I don't like it, I tell ya! Nope, not one bit!!!!!!

Ok, I'm calm now. I will assume this is for the rest of my life and since vanilla is the most flexible with adding stuff to it because Hawkeye didn't say we couldn't go girls gone wild on toppings so I am doing that. Already started on my list and got 30 without going to the pickles and peppers category.

Lord have mercy (LOL) .........just pick ONE flavor for ONE serving Couch.
But now that I think about it......we shouldn't expect anything less from a Couch coach :lmao2:

Vanilla bean is not the same animal as regular vanilla and it wasn’t a choice

If it were, I might change my answer.....

What would you choose if there was chocolate peanut butter? It’s no MCC but it is a strong combination.
When I was a kid in Jersey, there was a place that made their own ice cream. They had just plain peanut butter ice cream, and it's still the best ice cream I've ever had. But short of that, peanut butter/ chocolate would be my choice.

Vanilla bean became a thing because of the specks of vanilla in it but they can call it that not actually making it from vanilla bean. I don't think it tastes better, in fact, not as much vanilla flavor as others.

I use America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country for a lot of reference and highly recommend it for anyone that wants to cook but doesn't have that art side of it down, that's me. My wife was a phenomenal artistic cook, I am much more on the science side.

One of the foods they taste tested was vanilla ice cream. Now, when I think vanilla ice cream, the last company I think of is Ben & Jerry's. They're like Howard Johnsons and their 28 flavors back in the day, which Bascom Robbins took from them. So, I decided to test this out myself because I don't think I have ever even seen B&J's Vanilla let alone tasted it.

So, I got pints of B&J, HD, Blue Bell, Dreyers and Breyers to compare. I even put it in single servings with a number on the bottom corresponding to the brand so it would be a blind taste test. At this point, I became glad I was alone except for the dogs and they're used to my behavior so they know to keep it on the down low. How many people attempt blind tastings all by themselves?

Now, what to use as a plate cleanser to keep the test on the up and up. I decided on Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle. Have no idea if that's a good palate cleanser but it's one damned fine treat and I wanted some and excuse to buy it.

I did this over two nights and tasted them all with the Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle interlude. Let me report, all were good, fine representatives to my now, monthly, iced dessert taste test that has branched out to include much more and a full freezer of losers that I can't throw away. There is no such thing as a bad freezer dessert.

But I must say, that Ben & Jerry's was special. It tasted so good and felt so great in my mouth, I hated to swallow it but brain freeze was just around the corner. It was the winner and by a long margin. The HD came in 2nd, which had been my favorite.

And B&J Vanilla Ice Cream been selected as my palate cleanser for my Brownie Brittle taste test up next. Never had this stuff before and I also recommend it.

Vanilla. I love the flavor and I can always add other flavors to it, but the others I can't.
